Extreme lag after an hour of playing

Post by Punkbuster »

Hey guys,

I have had this issue for a lot of time already but I was too lazy to post a topic.
So, When I start to play, I have like 80 FPS, After an hour it gets to 1-15....
I thought that it is my GPU or CPU overheating but I instantly quit the game and checked the temperature and my GPU's temperature was 42C and CPU's temperature was 46C!
I have my graphics drivers updated to the latest update.

PC Specifications:

CPU: Nvidia GeForce 9800GT Super+ - 1GB
GPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 @ 3.00 GHz
RAM: 2GB running at 400 MHz :( Very sad... Very sad... I know... :(

Cheers,

Check your memory usage at the start and then when the performance drops. Sounds like the memory leak a lot of people have been getting lately.

Maybe check your RAM isn't broken with one of the online test tools?

I have tested my RAM with the Microsoft utility "Windows Memory Diagnostic" and it showed me that everything is OK.

The long and short is that I was experiencing a similar issue with a memory leak and found that running both BF2.exe and PR.exe WITHOUT compatibility mode turned on, it seems to fix the memory leak that Win7 seems to have.

Good luck!
This problem is common, but not that known..

Never run BF2/PR in compability mode (vista/w7). you can run it as administrator if you want..
I had the same issue for like 3 months before I discovered it.. after around 1 hour to 1,5 hour i had massiv fps drop.. from 100 and it stopped on 12 in my case..
The problem will occur if you have 12gb ram aswell..

turning off speedstep from BIOS CPU settings seems to sort out all my BSOD problems which I thought was caused by faulty SB X-FI drivers.
Well at least not got bluescreen for a week now :o

It also improved FPS and removed random freezes as well. Try it out.

My hw is i7/6G/GF 295gtx/Win7 64
