Aiming preferance.

Post by zordja »

ok so here is a new thread by me.

which kind of aiming do you prefer above all?

Note this for all Firearms except Pistols, so do not tell which weapon, just say which aiming system you prefer the most on any weapon.

scoped

dot

Ironsight

imo <3 Ironsight FTW!

only using scopes when i really have ta, or have a good sniper rifle.

real soldiers uses iron sights!

which vehicles aiming system do you like the most?

imo here i really can't state either a fav or a hate atm.

btw if you were challenged to a pistol duel in PR would you accept and duke it out the classic way? (1-2 shots per duelist).

I gotta say I made most kills with a reddot or ironsight. Usually the squads medic so your stuck with them. When ever I have a zoomed scope I tend to not hit :P

I prefer to use scopes personally, when I get really close I just tend to either switch you my knife while running very rapidly backwards, or just hipfire it.

I dislike the red dot, because the housing is so big. The one like in COD series is better.

EOTech wtf though! And ironsights just after that.

I prefer scopes, I like to see what I'm shooting at.
sometimes though I take a weapon with irons for it's mean "war" feeling (the additional stress that comes from not being able to identify targets quickly and not knowing if your bullets hit anything :p )

Lately I have been using ironsights/red dot more, especially in urban combat. It's much faster to acquire new targets that way, although I can't hit anything at longer ranges unless it's a SAW I am using.

I have a 1920x1200 screen, so my preference is red-dot, even if I have to squint a bit and pull the chair up really close sometimes.

As soon as we can use the close-range sights (battlesights?) on top of the scopes i'll be using scopes though.

Don't like ironsights, because they either obscure visability downwards, or are too ridiculously thick to be accurate (M-16 ironsights, i'm looking at you.. ).

As a the constant medic I am, ironsights have been my most used. Lately however I find myself more and more getting the reddot from crate. Closerangecapabilities are the same IMO but redot is a little handier for the longrangeshots.

As a medic (except for german faction) one does not have a choice. However the few times I play with another kit (SL mostly then) I choose sight-system out of 2 questions. 1: Do all the others have unscoped? Then I will grab scoped for needed diversity. 2: In near furture, do I believe fights will occur in a medium to longrange enviroment? If yes, I go with scoped.
Also as a sidenote; having scoped as SL is pretty much the rule for me anyways. It's a mini-binocular that lets me keep my gun in hand while spotting/marking. Also, odds are slim that I will be among the first moving in to a building. And in such close ranges, when with scope, I do not raise my sights when I shoot.

Iron sights only for me :o No dot blocking my view and I can easily kill anything I can see.
ACOG would be my second choice, it's nice but not so versatile as the iron sights.

If the secondary sights by Mosquill get implemented it will fix that difference though and maybe make the ACOG a bit better than the iron sights but for now the irons win.

And I play medic most of time anyway so the only time I get a scope is when playing as Germans.

With my 26" screen and everything on max I prefer the dot just about any time :-)
I know not with what weapons World War III will be fought, but World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones.

Iron sights ftw. Scopes are for newbs who can't see shit... red dots for leet kiddos cuz all they do ingame is block ur screen and look good. In PR the best sight is teh one that barely blocks ur screen, like AK sights, G3, FAL. A good player can kill/hit people 200-300m away with irons and dominate scope fanbois in CQB.

Same people that go prone and sight up each time they see a friendly guy ~70m away to check his nick will take scope, and same guys that think that X assault rifle is more accurate than Y assault rifle with take aimpointz. In the end all that matters is the ammo count, stopping powah, sight FOV and rate of fire.

Prefer the scope, but since Im either a Officer (rarely use my rifle) or a Medic (in that case Reddot) I never get to use it.

Depends on map and objective.

CQB, Aimpoint all the way. I prefer Aimpoint over EOTech, since the front post gets in the way. If I'm defending a static position, and need range, then scope. Most firefights are CQB for me, so scopes become useless in CQB.

I prefer engaging targets at close and mid range; I like the red dot. It allows for fast quick target acquisition. No need to align the rear sight to the front sight. Just the front sight.

I wish the iron sights were like modern flip sights or the H&K open rear sights. They are more open and allow for faster target acquisition. It sacrifices accuracy, but you can get a target in your sights faster.

I tried to ACOG a few times, was not a fan. Its great for medium to slightly longer ranges, but I did not dig it that much.

Red dot! :D
I love being SL on the US and taking the red dot sight!!
Although I like scopes for long range battles... I feel so useless when I have red dot and the enemies are shooting at me from a far distance!

I'd say I get scopes for AAS maps and irons for Insurgency, basically.
Guys, when a new player comes, just answer his question and go on your merry way, instead of going berserk! It's THAT simple! :D

i normaly choose on the situation if it is AAS i would go scoped unless assaulting an area . . or building area. iron sights = GOD . . the Non scoped marksman kit was BEAST hahah i loved using it but i like the double scope option as well . . . . i dont normaly like scoped because of the draw time and it isnt ideal in close quarters.
