Virtual Ram included in the 3.2GB max?

Post by SnipeHunt »

I am having the game CTD during map load. The errors are always memory size errors. I attempted to up my virtual ram just to have it lower back to the default setting. It occured to me that the virtual ram might be included in the 3.2GB max that 32-bit can use, and thus resetting my changes to the virtual ram.

What do you think?

Win7 home premium 32-bit
Quad Core 3.0GHz
GTX460
4GB RAM

You mean your pagefile?

Pagefile ist not included in the Harware RAM, you use the pagefile when the Hardware RAm is full which does not prevent PR from crashing after loading new maps.

What you can do is to set up your system on WIn7 64. Then more RAM can used.

With WIn32 you can only use 3.2 GB RAM. From this 3.2 GB 1GB is taken to adress your Vram from the gtx460, and about 500 MB goes to Win7. So from 3.2 you only have 3.2 - 1.5 = ~~1.7 RAM.

PR can use more then 1.5 Gig since BF2 patch 1.5 , and it Used this much RAM after a while of playing / new map loading. With win 64 you have 800 MB more, so PR can use 2.5 Gig. Then you get less crashes.

For me 8 GB RAM is right, cost me 70 Euros : ;) =

You did that because of better driver and program compatibility. The applications are still not really migrating to 64bit. But at least the drivers for newer hardware are...

;)

Most apps are runnning under 64, most hardware is. ist like 99% , only problem i know is the creative problem, but creative was a problem since they build drivers :=

at 2011 64 Bit Win7 has NO more negative aspects then WIn32, only more positives.
