PB Handshaking Failed!

Post by Acelondoner »

Everytime I try to join the UKWF server, I get an error saying Handshaking failed (something to do with punkbuster).
The error pops up when I have finished loading and am about to enter the game. Any ideas on how to fix this?

I have recently bought a new BF2 disk (complete collection) and have a new key. Thats the only thing that has changed since it was working before.

Cheers

I have had same problem with XP for a few months now, at one point I gave up on trying to join. What I do is run the PBsetup test so it starts PBusterB.exe (this is what I always have handshaking issues with), and with Windows Task Manager I close PBsetup before the test is done. This way PBusterB.exe will stay active and when you launch PR you will avoid the handshaking failure.

I have tried in vain to figure the issue out, every bit of advice given to me has failed safe for the method mentioned above, which I found scouring BFBC2 (possibly CoD) forums.

I'd really, really, really, reaaaaallly like a fix for this as it is always frustrating to autodeploy and forget about the damn handshaking issue.

Bump

Updating PB made it worse, infact I had a couple new errors pop up. Reinstalled Bf2/patch/PR and back to square one. Does anyone have a solution, this really drives me mental some days.

Update it again. ;)
If it still has issues, make sure it's allowed through your firewall.

You might have to deactivate your Antivirus or create an exception or even completely uninstall the AV, (even deactivated AV can still cause issues in rare occasions).
