Anyways, I run scopes almost exclusively. Maybe a 30" screen should change my mind, but until then, 4x all the way.
My thoughts exactly.
If you have every actually fired a rifle with iron sights (real rifle) then used a reflex scope (either red dot or holo) you will notice you are much more accurate you are when sighting targets quickly. When you don't use tubular red dots you can even use both eyes.
Red dot and holo reflex sights are amazing for quick target acquisition, moving targets, and engaging targets in a tight environment. With iron sights you are so focused on the sights you lose awareness of the environment around you.
Rate of fire? Have you ever tried to hold your point of aim down under a high rate of fire? Its incredibly difficult, and with iron sights it is even harder.
This is why when you see Army or Marine infantry they have red dot or holo sights. They also probably have folding front and or rear sights in case the electronic sight goes out.
Not knocking iron sights, but dude (not you Z, the dude you quoted)... you can easily tell you have never actually picked up a real weapon in your life.
Also, red dot sights have no zoom factor, and neither do most holos. The only CQB sights that have zoom are ACOG.
