Not really the place to put out advertisements...most guys don't like snipers. Ask around in game.

Re: LOOKING FOR SNIPER/SPOTTER
personally i hate the idea of snipers in game.
Some either join your squad just to grab that kit and snipe around, others take the kit and say they will take overwatch where eventually it s just for kills. The sniper kit really pisses me off because no one uses it for teamwork. Its a noob kit.
Sorry for my ranting but thats how i feel

Re: LOOKING FOR SNIPER/SPOTTER
Best way to find a good Sniper/Spotter is to open a SQ ingame and wait till you discover a good Buddypartner. It helps a lot if you got xFire and TS.
You might want to start as a SpotterSQL letting the other guy take the Sniperkit switching to a SniperSQL/SpotterMedic setup as u get to know your Partner

I personally use it as CAS SQL calling in 20+ CAS runs a round 10+ Mortarstrikes and shooting around 5 times.SGT.MARCO wrote:personally i hate the idea of snipers in game.

Espacially in the recent updates the Sniper has become more important when it comes to Recon rather than shooting

Re: LOOKING FOR SNIPER/SPOTTER
not every map features CAS, and not every team uses mortars. most of these scenarios include a sniper joining a squad taking a slot someone else could of had, then bailing with the kit. You can do the same CAS SPOTTING with a Officer kit. its not in the sniper.Tahanatos wrote:I personally use it as CAS SQL calling in 20+ CAS runs a round 10+ Mortarstrikes and shooting around 5 times.

Re: LOOKING FOR SNIPER/SPOTTER
I like the idea of sniping in this game because its the most realistic game i have and i have nothing against 6 person squads its just i like having 2 people. And i want to find a specific person because i cant rely on the server to have a good enough person to help me. I wanted to find a reliable person to join me whenever.

Add stoickk on X-fire. If you don't mind him being in a clan. He is into the sniper/spotter thing.

Re: LOOKING FOR SNIPER/SPOTTER
I wouldnt mind PR getting rid of snipers and just have the marksmen. Most inf just have a designated marksman anyway, might as well stick with the infantry type stuff since that's what PR is going for.
Since PR doesnt want the super special forces types it makes sense.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Designated_marksman
"The DM role differs significantly from that of a specially trained sniper. A sniper is a specialist highly trained in fieldcraft who carries out a range of specific missions independent of others, and more specialized than standard infantry tasks. In contrast, a DM is a soldier who has received some additional marksmanship training. The DM's role is to provide an additional capability to the infantry platoon, which is the ability to engage targets at greater ranges than the other members of the squad or section.
The DM operates as an integral member of the infantry platoon, providing a niche capability contributing to the overall firepower of the platoon in the same way as a grenadier with a rifle-mounted grenade launcher, or the gunner who employs the squad/section machine gun. The DM weapon provides a capability to the infantry platoon in the shape of increased precision at a greater range than that provided by the standard infantry rifle, by virtue of its sighting system and/or larger caliber. By comparison, the sniper role is much more specialized with very comprehensive selection, training and equipment.
Snipers are ordinarily equipped with specialized, purpose-built bolt-action or semi-automatic sniper rifles while DMs are often equipped with accurized battle rifles or assault rifles fitted with optical sights.
Snipers are mainly employed for targets at ranges from 600 metres (660 yd) up to more than 2,000 metres (2,190 yd) using rifles with larger caliber ammunition while DMs are utilized for targets at ranges of up to 600 metres (660 yd) using a rifle chambered with standard-issue rifle ammunition. In addition, snipers often take a fixed strategic position and camouflage themselves (e.g. with a Ghillie suit) while a DM will generally move with his unit and be otherwise equipped in the same way as other members of the infantry platoon."

Re: LOOKING FOR SNIPER/SPOTTER
If you want to get into an overwatch position to Coordinate CAS/Mortar or Spot enemies for your team of course the Officer can do it, but the Officer cant take out the AA Gunner before CAS comes in or take out the enemy Officer the second he tries to built that FOB.
Both DM and Sniper have their place in PR but unfortunatly a lot of players tend to use them wrong.
Edit:
I dont know about American Military, but I can tell you the British and Germans have Snipers in their regular Inf and Para Fire Support Platoons.
The MP also has some but thats a different story

Re: LOOKING FOR SNIPER/SPOTTER
I've had one or two instances where a Sniper has saved my *** when i've been trying to regroup with my squad and someone's got me pinned down, i asked on team chat if anyone could see anything around my keypad and a sniper took him out, allowing me to move up and catch up with my squad.
Same guy also called in a lethal mortar strike against a well built up enemy emplacement. HE wasn't lonewolfing either, he had a grenadier with him and kept supplying intel to the commander.
Admittedly, snipers are misused a hell of a lot, and i'm pretty sure we've all been guilty of picking it up to see what you can do with it kills wise, i know i have, but if it's applied correctly, snipers are a great asset to have.

Re: LOOKING FOR SNIPER/SPOTTER
A Sniper/Spotter team should be on their own, as they are under the commander and not tied to another team, and even if a Sniper and a Marksman have a similar setup, their role in combat can not be compared in any way..

I personally like Sniper/Spotter teams as long as you do your job. SNIPERRECON is exactly that. Recon with the ability to take out HPT at range.
Usually I go with the Sniper medic combo and only two people but Ive had good experiences with 4 people squads. Had a good game on Op. Barracuda with a sniper medic officer and hat....
Just make a squad depending on what your doing (sniper recon, sniper assassin, AI sniper, etc) and usually people who join are up for it. add them on xfire a ta-da.
thats how I have most of my players/pilots that i play with.

Re: LOOKING FOR SNIPER/SPOTTER
I personally play as a recon sniper. Me and my spotter went one entire round on Kashan desert firing only less than an entire mag. They were extremely HPT, 1 was the OPFOR's sniper team, and the other was a HAT readying his wepon and the medic accompanying him. Most of the game I was just marking targets on the map and calling in CAS/mortar. I choose my shots very carefully and rarely miss.

Re: LOOKING FOR SNIPER/SPOTTER
When people know what to do with the snipers they're useful. The bigger problem as far as the 2 man teams go though. Is the spotter half the time dosen't know his job/role in the team and does not spot targets. If they do it's 1 every hour. Me and my guy manage to kill a lot more and spot more then that. While feeding intel to a team who dosen't care or acknowledge it. So I can see why people just lonewolf and don't bother. When you tell them every movement of the enemy and they ignore it.

Re: LOOKING FOR SNIPER/SPOTTER
I hate that even worse. When there accurate marks an your team ignores them entirely. I was on kokan as an Sl and marking cas targets like no tomorrow and idiots just went around getting no kills and crashing
