Deploying/undeploying HAT kits

Post by SGT.MARCO »

When playing PR people usually say that the hat kit is too overpowering. I think a few ways of stoppping this is by making it so that they player must be crouched and must stay stationary when deploying their HAT kit.. If the player moves, it will switch to the previous slot. This will make it the kit require even more preparation and not running behind a tank while pulling out a javelin from the hip.

also, if at all posible, make it so that when trying to switch weapons with a unfired HAT, create a packing time, or an animation in which the soldier disposables the HAT kit

Only certain HATs are too powerful, and this is merely a damage effect that can be tweaked.

I'm not sure if I'm making stuff up but I think the old Vanilla style HAT is going away soon. The Russians and Germans both get what equate to grenade launchers while the IDF and PLA get 'straight shooters'. I'm hoping that since the TOW exists now, the hand held ATGM will effectively be replaced by things that are more appropriate to the larger portion of infantry v tank combat; close ranges.

Keep the TOW and other armor as the main longrange anti tank option.

shouldnt this be under suggestion or general discussion?

and No that doesnt make sense . . . SO you have your HAT ready to go then Oh wait you want to move to the left so just then . . . you have to Drop your tube take out your other weapon walk 2 feet stop take out your tube RE DEPLOY and get it ready then Shoot . . . . . . . . No in real life you would just walk to the left and then shoot . . . . ..

Overpowered well not rly. I mean u basically have only 2 Kits on 32 ppl for enemy tanks. And even then u usually need 2 HATs. I mean u could make them Weaker but then you will soon see tanks going straight into enemy infantry formation for no care at all.

Well it seems that HAT is kind of dominating the maps or it might be because the driving style /play style of apc/armor changed over the patches.
How long was the waiting time untill the HAT-Kit is available one lost? Maybe just make the waiting time longer again for the HAT once lost so it would have a heavier impact. And then you might see less HAT sniping :P

The only strange thing i saw so far with the hat was that one guy behind cover crouched, stood up and insta shots my apc without any waiting. Went so fast i wasnt even able to shoot him. Shouldnt it give some waiting time before you shoot when you go from crouch to standing?

And no you shouldnt redeploy it again for some walking.

if somehow you can make it so you if you sprint when deploying that would be the best same would go for reloading weapons, but its prolly hardcoded
There is only one unforgivable lie That is the lie that says, This is the end, you are the conqueror, you have achieved it and now all that remains is to build walls higher and shelter behind them. Now, the lie says, the world is safe.? The Great Khan.

Now don't quote me on this but i believe i have seen this issue appear before on threads and it has been said that the bf2 engine is hard coded that way and cannot be altered :-(

The dev's really shot themselves in the foot with the 128 player test tho. That was supposed to be hardcoded as well ;)
