Fixed Wings for USMC

Post by Warrior »

I was looking at the list of Fixed Winged Airfcraft for the USMC, and I'm not familar with some of them. I checked http://www.marines.com and they only showed that they use 4 diffrent types.

F/A - 18 Hornet

KC - 130 Hercules

AV - 8 Harrier

EA - 6B Prowler

I dont see any of the other Aircraft mentioned besides those four listed and shown above and the F/A - 18 Hornet isnt even in the game for some reason.

No army unbeatable, no ship unsinkable, no life expendable.

The F/A-18E Super Hornet (not yet fielded by the Marines, but there are two Navy squadrons that use it at the moment) is definitely in BF2. So far the only carrier seen in game footage has been a Wasp or Tarawa class amphibious assault ship, which cannot launch the F/A-18, but it may be launched from a Nimitz class carrier (should one appear in the game).

At the moment, the Marines use the F/A-18C and F/A-18D. The Marines are the only service to use the F/A-18D in a direct combat role instead of just a training or combat support (reconnaissance) role.

In Project Reality, the Marines will also get the Harrier II-Plus, which the British forces will have as the Harrier GR7.

Thanks for Clearing that part out, also, the Marine's website doesnt show the F-35 JSF (Joint Strike Fighter) or the
F-15E "Strike Eagle" that are in this Mod, are they actually used by the Marines?

Well, they are in Battlefield 2, the PR mod team did not make them. No, F-15E and F35 JSF are not used by the Marines, and neither is the HH-60 (EA's designation for their hybrid H-60 helicopter in the game). The F-35B (Short-Takeoff/Vertical Landing version) JSF will eventually be used by the Marines, but has not yet entered service.

If this mod is still set in 2008, then ... well ****, JSF is scheduled to go into service in 2010... damn, its just such a sweet plane...
