BSOD

Hello! i was playing Project Reality all day yesterday, and i must say it a fantastic mod. But when it came to the map lashkar valley, BAM! Blue screen of death. but i believe it was a memory dump since it rebooted

SPECS:

Processor: AMD Phenom II X4 (quad) 925 @ 2.8GHz

RAM: 4GB

OS: Vista 64-bit

Sound: Creative Sound Blaster X-FI TITANIUM

Graphics Card: XFX RADEON HD 6850 1GB GDDR5 MEMORY

I run everything high except Texture Quality: Medium

Please respond ASAP

Was people having problem with Creative Sound Blaster X-FI TITANIUM ?
Maybe turn ur sound down to medium mate and give that ago?

hey try putting all your video settings to medium as well.

Also try running PR under "Run as Administrator" (right click on the PR icon)

thanks for the reply's i will try those as well and btw i was thinking of getting more ram (before incident) will this also fix the problem?

just bsod'd again the error was "page in non fault area" so it HAS to be a RAM (memory) issue?


and it ISN'T just on LASHKAR VALLEY it just crashed on BASRAH

i have 3GB RAM and i dont crash yes im now on Win7. Maybe an upgrade to Win 7 will help? (if you cant find another solution)

Switch to Audiomode Hardware from Creative X-Fi.

You can test your RAM with the built-in "Windows Memory Diagnostic", various other programs that I don't trust or use a linux "live CD" (i use Ubuntu), boot from it and run "memtest".

hey i tested the ram and it came out fine but i still feel something is wrong with it

and predator no i haven't but how do i do that method or is that a whole new sound card because i JUST bought the xfi card

EDIT: oh wait you mean audio creation mode in the "audio control panel" program?

Last resort it to uninstall PR and BF2 then re install it

oh ****........i think i may have found the problem.

those IMBECILES at compusa forgot to disable my realtek audio! The SB X-FI TITANIUM sound card and by previous audio system: "REALTEK" may have been "conflicting" with each other. That means
the DRIVERS for the audio systems clash thus a BSOD! i disabled the REALTEK audio and the ATI HDMI AUDIO.

They also forgot to update the catalyst for my VIDEO CARD DEPRIVING ME OF THE LATEST DRIVERS FOR IT, THAT MAY ALSO CAUSE A BSOD

sorry for the caps, I was excited that i may return to this awesome mod with out any faults!!

BUT..... i may be wrong, you tell me if this sounds accurate, if not please tell me other wise.

if that doesnt work, i would try doing what predator v2 said.

basically go to options (in the game menu) > audio
then next to audio renderer, select Hardware instead of Creative X-Fi

its a common problem with the x-fi cards BSODing in PR on map changes.

this post will fix your problem. if you dont have your renderer set to hardware or software it will bsod eventually.

but its not just a problem with pr, its a common problem with any game that uses "xfi mode" creative simply sells not working cards. yet continues to false advertise what it can do in vista and 7 to this day. but can you blame them? its microsoft's fault really.

no Creative and Ultra!
