well here is how it goes , i found my old battlefield 2 while cleaning my room , i remembered all the joyous times playing the game solo and multiplayer with friends , so i installed it , one of my friends mentioned to me not long ago about project reality , so i decided to look it up , and after going through the forum and looking at videos on youtube , i decided to give it a go , i installed the patches ( 1.41 and then 1.5 ) and then all three part of PR in the correct order , that was in the late hours of last night . after a long day today i finally got around to trying to actually play PR , it came up with the dogtags , then a black screen the it CTD with no error message , so i had a wander through the forum to see if i could find a solution , i saw that if i put it in windowed mode it might give me an error message , so i did so and had a error message ( attachment is the pic) and i also found that just because PR wouldnt work , it did not mean that BF2 wouldnt either , but even after going through the same black screen and CTD , window mode and error message with BF2 ,the error message is the same . Before PR and the patches
Now im not exactly very good with computers to the extent that the error message implied , being only 15, and i'm just wondering if anyone knows a solution of some sort ?
regards
Jack

Re: Black screen and error message
Reinstall BF2, error message leads me to believe it didn't install correctly.

I agree with whatshisname55.
It is possible that your downloaded patch is corrupted. Use a download manager, torrent client or check the file manually using a check sum (e.g. md5 with md5Summer and the hash from the download page)

Got a PROBLEM? Check this: PR:BF2 Installation Guide
Got a common QUESTION? check here first: PR:BF2 FAQ, MUMBLE FAQ
"Hello, IT! ... Yes, have you tried turning it on and off again?"

Same problem here, I have tried the full sha-bang, but no fix, Iv'e updated my drivers, uninstalled, re-downloaded and re-installed everything. Thought maybe it was my second screen interfering (Because half of it goes black) so I disabled it, but nothing!

Re: Black screen and error message
@garack my point was that the files can't be deleted , just so you understand
i've reinstalled bf2 and patches and they work perfectly , so if the problem persists after i reinstall PR then i just won't be able to play PR

(If You Already Have Installed Delete EveryThing)
1 : Instal BF2
2 : Patch 1.41
3 : Patch 1.5
-----------------------------------------------------
4 : Start Up Battlefield . Log In. Sign Back Out.
-----------------------------------------------------
5 : Instal PR : (Part 1 ,2,3)
6 : Now you will be able to play.
