Qwai River Geography

Post by ShockUnitBlack »

I'd just like to mention that I believe the actual land on Qwai, particularly on the riverbanks, could do with a serious overhaul. In its current iteration, this area seems unnatural, with exceptionally steep hills and pitfalls all over the place. In other words, I think Qwai River could do with having some of its contours smoothed-over.

Cheers,

So you think it would be better flattened out? What would that do to benefit gameplay?

I think it looks fairly unnatural as-is.

Whilst it is unnatural, its unique. Not unique in the sense that its creative, but there are no other maps like it.

The varying terrain gives different fights, one thing that I absolutely adore about Qwai is making an assault up the hill and taking the US bunker, or vice-versa as US trekking across the hills and rope bridge to the PLA AA site. Flattening that area would give the PLA armor even more survivability which is a shame because they already rape the US almost every game if the Bradley can't do its work properly.

If you want to see it naturalized, get into mapping and show us some examples of what it would look like almost totally flat. Or even better yet, create a new Chinese rural map like AFSoccer has done and prove that medium mountainous terrain is not realistic in mainland China.

The riverbanks do look unnatural for such a big river. In places they are 90 degrees vertical (around the southern bridge). They need to be with a gentler slope. The rest of the map is great.

More vegetation on the riverbanks wouldn't hurt advancing infantry.

Its uncommon but I dont think its as unnatural as you make it out to be. Probably the higher banks have been man-made to make the bridge. Cause the fishing village and the opposite side is flat.

After looking at it more closely, I see that the terrain is actually wonderful. ;-)
