Specs:
Windows Vista 32-bit SP2
NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GT
4GB RAM
Intel Core2 Quad CPU Q6600 & 2.40GHz
At first, the game would randomly goto the desktop/crash after trying to load a map or randomly ingame. After setting my max virtual memory for the driver to...4095MB, it only happened when loading the second map.
I found a thread that fixes it, but there's a few issues.
1. I dunno if this matters, but I'm using Steam.
2. I have Steam (and therefore PR/BF2) installed on my G drive, which is an external HDD. I have my reasons for that, but that means I can't go through the exact process in fixing it.

Re: memory .dll issues
4 things you could try:
Get a really fast flash thumb drive (2-4 gigs) and use it for "Ready-Boost" (Vista)
Upgrade to a 64 bit OS so you can use that last gig of ram
Use a 3rd party app like Gamebooster to free up more ram.
Get a new video card with at least 1 gig on on-board ram.
Good luck
