PR Won't Start Up

It's been quite sometime since I've been away from PR (gaming in general my computer had some difficulties for almost a year before I could afford to fix it) and after I got my computer back up and running it was one of the first things I got back on and sadly it is not working!

So I installed everything, it all went smooth, but when I go to start PR up I get the PR screen the screen goes black like it's going to start up, then nothing happens. I feel like I may have had this problem the last time I installed, but for the life of me I can't remember what I did. I would prefer to not do a clean install of BF2, but if that's what must be done I will.

Did you check all settings in your "My Documents"-> "Battlefield 2" -> "Profiles" and in there all the files? I mean to open them with editor, especially the Videosettings in the "Video.con"-files in the main folder and in the Profiles.

I did not, but I could give it a try when I get home.

Can you be a little most specific? What should these files look like? What should I be doing with them?

In that "Profiles" folder, open the "0001" folder (and after that the other folders "0002", "0003",...) , then Video.con with Editor, check whether the

VideoSettings.setResolution 1680x1050@60Hz

line is right. 1680x1050 is the resolution, 60 Hz is the refreshrate (?), can also be 70 or 75.

OK, not sure what the problem was, did a clean install (also realized I didn't have BF2 updated with the 1.5 patch!) and it works fine! Well I get random freezes, buttttt I've always had that problem, with BF2/PR.
