Civilian team killed

Post by mxlinus »

What is the penalty for the Insurgency team/player when they team kill their own civillian or is there any? what happens if the civi decides to forgive the teamkill?

I came across a situation ingame, where we were chasing two civis and just before we could catch them, they were shot down by their own men, so we were left with dead bodies instead of intel. This is surely the biggest exploit I've faced ingame and should be made punishable.

Sorry about the horrible thread name + the typo on it, I did not realize how bad that sounded like until it was too late...

I believe when a civilian commits suicide, the BLUFOR get Intel for it, correct me if I am wrong. Would make sense that a Civilian TK would also give Intel, also that would be realistic because the civilian population sides more with the BLUFOR when insurgents kill their innocent family, vice-versa also.

Don't forget that the insurgents could guess lie and say the BLUFOR did it. Also don't forget the civilian's job (in PR) is to run into the line of fire, so I don't think the family really cares how it happens after he tells them he's going out to stone a tank.

...do they even say that?

As in, "Momma, Imma be a suicide bomber" kind of thing? I would guess not. But I don't know.
Guys, when a new player comes, just answer his question and go on your merry way, instead of going berserk! It's THAT simple! :D

Why would Blufor get intel? The reason why there is a suicide button is for when your glitched inside something and can't get out for the most part.

It was abused to avoid arrest, and since then has been changed to count as being arrested. If you get stuck, use the grappling hook or have someone use it on you. If that fails, you're just out of luck.

Because what if you have no sprint left and 7 Specialists are charging you with shotguns out and your blocked in by 10 others with restrainers, and you just suicide... not very fair, and it is kind of the same concept as whats going on in this thread, what if in the same situation a friendly takes you out to prevent giving intel to the enemy?

also I am not sure if suicide and jumping off a building will give the same results but I think suicide is suicide no matter what.

Yeah, so what I meant so say here, like Reddeath pointed out, is what if insurgent kill their civillian on purpose to avoid arrests, what is the penalty for it? I think it should be the same thing as arrest -> you get the same amount of intel from this than arresting.

Otherwise killing a friendly civillian to avoid arrest should be considered as an exploit.

jumping off buildings is suicide

Because BSS have a vendetta against civilians. No joke, they got trolled by the greenshirts too hard in old versions. A billion threads have been posted about the problems with ROE in PR over the years, but they're determined to make it as unrewarding and frustrating as they can in order to force teamplay at the expense of realism.

Because some of us old grognards remember what happened on maps like Desert Storm back in .5-.6. Too many people took civilian to mean "lol i troll US, u get ticket OK". Back in those days, insurgents still had a ticket count. If BLUFOR killed a civilian the insurgents would gain 10 tickets.

This lead to masses of people spawning as civilian and doing things like throwing themselves infront of tank/humvees, running into grenades intentionally, and in general doing other stupid stuff just to gain a massive ticket advantage on their side.

Best one I can remember was Desert Storm. There was a flag on the other side of a destroyable wall. The wall needed to be blown up by C4, and could be repaired by engineers wrenches. What would invariably happen (until servers started banning people for doing it or removed the map) would be thus:

1. US caps flag
2. Insurgents suicide, respawn as civilians, putting 10-15 on the other side of the wall.
3. Paltry force of insurgents shoot at US team, while civilians stand next to wall.
4. Wall blows up, kills 15 insurgents
5. Insurgents gain 150 tickets, kill advancing US troops, rebuild wall.

I remember certain games where the insurgents would actually end the maps with double or triple the starting ticket count.

Yeah, because the dev's absolutely hate realism, don't want anyone playing a class that they took the time to build into the game and balance, and go out of their way to ensure that they are making your game experience miserable.

Why don't you stop for a moment and remove your cranium from your rectum and think about the fact that the dev's have a ton of issues to deal with with this mod as a whole, not to mention the fact that civilian RoE is a complex issue, and not one that can be solved quickly. This is not the same as a bugged static that can be recoded or removed until fixed. If you don't think this is complex, go read this thread where the issue is currently being discussed and weigh in with more intelligent points than, "Dev's hate civvies." Bashing on the guys that make this game, on their forum, on their website is juvenile, rude, and doesn't accomplish anything. Try some constructive criticism or keep your mouth shut.

So I'll ask again because nobody has not clarified this yet: does Blufor get arrest intel points when a civillian is shot by a friendly? It should be like this anyway I think because Blufor loses intel when they kill a civi + the killer loses all his points. Blufor have to be carefull not to shoot civis, so same thing has to apply for the insurgents.

That wouldn't be fair for insurgents that way, should be a way for insurgents to prevent Intel being leaked and making civilians expendables in certain situations. Speaking of being realistic, civilians side with the insurgents more if they feel they are threatened because they wouldn't wanna face the same consequences again, they would only snitch if they are certain the insurgent presence has been cleared for good and even then they would do it when there is a benefit to them or to get vengeance because they could care less for BLUFOR's interests.

Plus Dead men can't talk, so maybe BLUFOR should have ability to revive civilians and then arrest them before they die or commit suicide...?
