Don't ever say 4runner in front of me lulz 4runner was my first vehicle...... spent 2 grand on it spent 2.5 grand fixing it and it still doesn't run right gotta drop the tranny on it later and replace the torque converter. Anyways back on topic Indeed i have also wanted to see the techies replaced for quite some time if i had the knowledge/skills i would of started on it heh (Too lazy to try to gain the knowledge/skill).

Alright guys, apologies for neglecting this, but i've been a bit bogged with all kinds of un-fun stuff lately, and, like many of you, I suffer from a considerable addiction to PR.
Anyways, further apologies, as this isnt much of an update, but ive done a few more diddles here and there, and I finally got all the tools I needed to get the original techie into Max. BOY is that thing cheap.

I have a question: as you may have noticed, the bed of the vanilla techie is really, really shallow. So much so, that they didn't even need to model the wheel-wells in. As such, the .50 gunner stands about a foot above what will be the bed of my Hilux. I dont want to bother someone to screw with the animation systems here, so I figure I could either A) fib the bed and make it similar to the old techie, or B) model something to place under the gunner's feet, such as ammo cans or something. Any ideas?

If no one is going to change that animation I'd go with maybe wooden pallets in the back of the techie. Instead of using ammo boxes. Not sure if thats the correct translation. But those wooden platforms that products in shops get shipped on.

the animations can be tweaked later, just model it like it would be in RL.

You know a hatchback techie would be pretty cool me thinks for transport or maybe make the hatchback the ammo techie or both twould be nice to have a little more transport on maps like al basrah etc. So a hatchback would be pretty nice for that and i think would make a better/more realistic ammo techie maybe model in some of the ammo boxes in the back of the hatchback if the windows will be see through if you made a hatchback.

anyway, we'll see a custom mod ak47 with drum mag, so I think we can trust the pmc to be sufficiently insane :p

Model a canvas with some ammo canisters, plastic fuel drums and wooden planks scattered haphazerdly but near the edges so its out of the way when the gun is placed in the center. the objects would suck if the players feet glitched into them for the rest of time.

something similar for the flat one without the stand. if it was me i'd put in the ridged metal decking with sacks of rice or sand bags on one side where eventually a player would sit. think about how many are going to be in this model. prob 4 in back two in front. so a place where a guy is sitting with his legs hanging off the back (but a folded canvas like old carpet there as if it was wrapped around some planks.) and near the front where the two guys will be standing up it needs to be flat so legs don't glitch. but you could still make it look filthy when your doing the textures. like old blood, or oil or piles of sand in the corners. and like i said before. sandbags at the sides or pipes, or rolls of carpet or bits and pieces, (reference washing machine parts and power tools) don't put too much in because of the tri count but make it look filthy and over used. but these techies are in a dry sandy environment so the chrome and paintjob would typically be clean and shiny. but the back of the rigs would be filthy with food wrappers and junk and mud.

hope my suggestion helps you come up with somthing. looks great btw.

Disaster. My hard disk literally caught fire about a month ago. I was certain these files were backed up on my newer HDD, but I have as yet been unable to locate them. I will likely start over before too long, but to be honest, life has really been handing it to me lately. Thanks for your interest and input guys, I'll be back sooner than later.

Aww, isn't that a shame, I was hoping after the technical you could have gotten on to replacing the clown cars with ether a Lada or a '80s Mercedes as well

That's a real shame. I was truly looking forward to driving around in your car.
Hope you find the time to make it again.
And look on the bright side; now that you have done it once, it will go faster the next time
