Exactly, IMO PR is win because of its excellent management team, talk to Jaymz/Masaq and the Asset Managers (Chuc/Rudd) for some tips on organizational skills and setting out a decent timeplan. But first things first, you have to think about what you really want with this mod.

whatever I don't plan on doing anything with it other than some models based on PMG work and maybe just improving my skills

Re: Community made PR WW2
Would this kind of project have to be a mini-mod but perhaps just a new faction(s)?
Like just adding WW2 Axis and Allied factions.
I would not mind playing in a normal PR server in a modern Chinese vs Russian scenario and in the next map as a WW2 Axis vs WW2 Allied scenario. Same gameplay and at first perhaps same maps just with different assets and skins. In Insurgency mode you could have French resistance defending their caches from Axis, http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0086659/ anyone?

I actually had a thought like that but I never posted it because I was sure it would get shot down

I don't think we really need another WWII mod since Forgotten Hope 2 is already out there...

So.. just because there is already another mod in the same genre, there shouldn't be another one? Trololol
.
If one can make a different, unique and fun mod (or game for that matter) in the same genre, go for it!
Regarding this WW2-mod, I don't see this happening anytime soon, even with all the available content. But just because there is already a mod in the same genre, doesn't mean there shouldn't be another one, let's be clear about that

Re: [Proposal] Community made PR WW2
WHy not just steal FH2's content? Mod EULAs arnt really legally binding because all the objects are offered free of charge like charity. Really when you think about it, its about as serious as downloading music discographies using torrents. nobody cares and nobody gets arrested. only people with illegal servers get arrested and even at that its tough to track those guys down. and nobody is going to call interpol on your ***.
Nah just kidding. dont steal stuff its bad, and you'll go to hell.
[R-MOD]s be gentle you cant infract me after the **** anchient man just posted
But seriously. i would like to see this idea come to fruition but as said above dont even think of modeling stuff. And if you are going to model stuff try and cyphon through all the rusty old statics made by community factions that are reps of WW2 objects.
First thing i would do though is go to FH2 and ask them really nicely if they would like to contribute and make it really clear that your not part of the PR DEV team and that you just want to see if anybody is interested. In all likelyhood, there are probibly as much DEVs and players on the FH2 side that are interested in seeing a PR version of their mod, as there are PR players who would like to see an FH2 version of PR.

I think a WW1 PR might be quite good especially with 128 players

Oh you'd be surprised. Besides a bunch of other reasons, we can't just give away our content since many of our developers are no longer on the team.Psykogundam wrote:First thing i would do though is go to FH2 and ask them really nicely if they would like to contribute and make it really clear that your not part of the PR DEV team and that you just want to see if anybody is interested. It would be nice to have a friend on the inside who could inquire about support

Re: [Proposal] Community made PR WW2
if FH2 did a kind of hardcore mode using certain PR mechanics, I'd definately play it, but any development in that direction would have to come from inside the FH2 team tbh.

Falklands mod isn't dead, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UjuCy5lH ... ure=relmfuTirak wrote:Not really. Remember the Falklands mod? IRA mod? JSDF? Mexicans (oh wait... nah them too), Taiwan? All faction and mod proposals, all had quite a bit of support, none of them made it. As cool as a WWII mod would be, it's too late and unsupported. Of course you could always try, and if it works lord it over everyone who doubted you. You'd be the Mosquill of the community modding scene.

Re: [Proposal] Community made PR WW2
I'd like to mention that Red Orchestra 2 looks to be, as I've read it, fairly similar to PR in terms of mechanics, except PR has way larger maps. The game could end up being fairly close to a PR:WW2. I'm just saying this because I think it's relevant if we're suddenly going to make a PR:WW2 and then just have Red Orchestra come out.

Re: [Proposal] Community made PR WW2
if you wait till PR: vietnam comes out you might be able to save some time by reusing some of the character models and textures like the US soldiers and NVA modified to be Japanese troops.gr770 wrote:So with all the suggestions to make a PR WW2 and the devs won't do it. Why hasn't anyone thought of making ourselves? We have a good amount of modelers, and (with premission) we could use most of the premade coding with a couple of adjustments. Is anyone willing to do this?
