Wanda Shan & Beirut CTD

Post by drs79 »

Dell Dimension 4600
XP SP3
Over 5 GB HD Space
3.2 GB RAM
ATI RADEON x1600 Graphics Card
X-FI Fatal1ty
Downloaded PR.95 from MODDB

Wanda Shan - CTD at 82% Textures. - Have tried running on medium and low settings, public and local servers, different screen resolution 800 and 1024 @ 60hz. Have also defragged - I know this helped solve the problem for some players.

Beirut - Did not have a problem with this map prior to .95. CTD @ 94% Textures. - Have tried running this map on medium and low settings, public and local servers, different screen resolution 800 and 1024 @ 60hz. Have also defragged - I know this helped solve the problem for some players.
*I am able to successfully play Beirut on PRSP with the most amount of bots available, runs fine, did experience some lag/choppy game play but that was due to the amount of bots present during certain areas of the map.

Upon other postings, I will search for running PR in windowed mode?
Any other suggestions would be extremely helpful.
*I am a computer novice.

Did you delete your BF2 shader cache yet?

If you still have the installers check if they were corrupted.

Also, there is a slight chance its a PR Bug related to ATI Video cards.
Have you tried updating your drivers?

Do you have this problem on Gaza Beach as well?
check out this thread, try with deleting that idf_namer_apc like ZZEZ explained.

Sniping, apologies for not responding back sooner, I do in fact have the problem with Gaza, I will look into deleting the namer APC.

Iron Eagle is the other map I cannot play.

I will get on TS or Mumble and get some help with updating driver I am not the best at doing it, I will do the same with finding the Namer apc, and I will look at that thread in its entirety in regards to how to do it and what to do once its deleted or if I need to rename it etc.

Thank you, and my apologies for not checking back here sooner.

My game also crashes to desktop when loading to Beirut. I'm not sure about Wanda Shan, I'm not even familiar with this map. I'd like to try some of the suggestions above, namely the shader solution, but I'm not sure how to do it. I've recently updated my drivers, and I've played the map since then with no troubles. Thanks for the help.

I am not sure if you are asking a question there, seems to me like you have it fixed, no?

1. Delete the contents (files and folders) inside "My Documents\Battlefield 2\mods\bf2\cache"
2. Use BF2cleaner: in "Graphics Cache" section click "Cleanse Files"

I went to clear the cache using the manual method, that directory does not seem to exist. Sorry for the poor clarity on my last post. What I meant was that I had previously updated my drivers, played the map, but since that last play, when I try to load the map, it crashes.

After using bf2 cleaner and putting texture settings on medium and texture filtering on medium or low, I was successful in being able to run Beirut for the first time. I spawned as Russian but just to make sure I wasn't dreaming also switched to be on the IDF, and turns out pinching yourself works, it was in fact real.

I did however after using bf2 cleaner delete the PB folder within EA Games, and then reinstalled PB completely and restarting the computer and then loading up PR.

I haven't updated my ati drivers yet, haven't had the time nor the chance to ask someone on mumble or ts to take time out of their gaming to help a noob like me. I probably should but I will not be trying it by myself, and I kind of wish that these graphics/vid card companies would just issue updates like microsoft and apple do, simple DL and install procedures.......oh well.

I'm going to try loading into Beirut again tonight and maybe even try wanda shan.

What is this so-called bf2 cleaner and how do I use it?

I hate to be that guy who bumps, but I don't suppose anybody knows how I can use this bf2 cleaner, or perhaps has an alternate suggestion as to why I'm having troubles? I just found out Gaza does this also...
