Logi's and Mines

Post by Maverick82 »

I'm not a huge fan of sometimes how light vehicles such as logi's can run right over mines, blow then up, and still drive away like nothing happened. At least in my opinion if an unarmored vehicle hits a mine at bare minimum it should be disabled or start flaming. Im not really sure if this is more of a bug but i've seen it happen sever times on many different maps.

year i have the same problem especialy on the german insurgency map (forgot the name) were i placed 3 mines on a road a feew days ago and it blows up instantly when a regular insurgent car drove over and i got a TK no hassle the guy forgave, then 5 min later a german mercedes jeep with 3 enemys in it drive over 2 of my mines right after eachother and nothing what so ever happen. I have seen this alot on this map it almost happens every round i play there i see the mercedes survive mines but other regular cars or motobikes blow up instantly.

it's because they drive so quickly that theblast doesn't harm them enough to sdestroy them, as where a bike the blast is still harmfull enough to destroy it same with techie etc.

in real life land mines are triggered by the wheels. and i imagine seeing as they are so obvious on tarmac they are used mostly in grass or dirt, and when you cushion a heavy object around dirt the dirt absorbes the vibrations especially when loose. (an MA is probibly gonna corrent me on that though)

this bug your talking about is common and i personally think it simulates real life poor mine placement.

That MAKES sense... I mean, if the mine is pressure-activated, anywhere near a heavy vehicle on dirt will get pressured, I suppose.
Guys, when a new player comes, just answer his question and go on your merry way, instead of going berserk! It's THAT simple! :D

Not all mine are "pressure-activated", its surely the case for may be up to 9 out of 10 mine used in the battlefield, but some are magnetic activated, and some are also preset for a specific kind of vehicle ( like 30 tons + ) to catch only heavy fighting vehicle. :P Mine are cheap and made in all kind of materials, using all kind of explosive, and all kind of triggering fonction and are widely used...

I'm not 100% but I think I may have seen this yesterday on Operation Archer. I was playing Taliban and I mined the road into the small village in the center north of the map. I heard a loud boom a bit later and a few seconds after that, a Canadian jeep (sorry i'm not sure what they are called) came into view driving down the road. After they left I checked and the mine was gone and there were no other friendlies around so i assume they detonated the mine but somehow survived.

'Limeni[BiH wrote:;1569174']Guys thats not realistic, believe me I saw what mine can do to a vehicle no matter at what speed it was traveling. Specially the heavy AT mines.
The issue here is that people say that IRL if you dont directly drive over a mine to activate it (preasure activation) it wont blow up, so if a mine doesent blow you up that would simulate "you not driving over a mine but close to it" kind of thing

In my case I whas Taliban and used Taliban mines from the Engineer kit with the arty IED, and the car whas the German mercedes jeep, as said before i see it alot on this map and most of the time I actually dont recall ever seeing the jeep die bye driving over mines, also i would like to point out that the mines doo actualy blow up. Just nothing really happens.

I have actually seen the germans truck survive a drive over a mine aswell but i only recall it one time and it did actualy blow the mine and the german truck also did smoke but still drove away.
