why plan ahead?
In order to use minimal time on explaining in game who does what and when and why? Like a long detailed briefing before a mission.
This sounds like what Clans are all about?
Yes this is pretty much what clans try to do but this squad is designed for any players no matter if they are in a clan or not.
Do i need to be a very experienced Project Reality player?
Not necessarily, but you should know as much as possible about the role your going to play in the squad and of course you need to know how BF2 and PR works in general. You need a certain amount of discipline while following orders (the Squad-leader will have total control when the game begins, you can not debate while bullets are flying)
Server: any populated 64 player server
Time: at least 2 hours strait (or whatever length the map has) on a Friday or Saturday
Map mode: Possible insurgency....but could also be AAS.
How detailed is the briefing going to be?
There is no limit to how detailed it could be since we have a lot of time discussing this here, but of course we might not reveal things that the enemy could use against us...if they read this post
Example of briefings could be:
Formations.
Rules of Engagement. Return fire only...etc.
communication rules....what do report...and what not to report and how to report it.
etc.
How to communicate?
Using in game + Mumble and possible ventrilo if necessary.
First of all we need to know what kind of squad we are going to play.
Examples:
Assault Infantry. 1 Squad-leader, 1 medic, 1 specialist and 3 riflemen.
Support Infantry. 1 squad-leader, 1 medic and some special kits like HAT-LAT-SAW-Combat Eng
Mechanized infantry: (1 vehicle) 1 Squad-leader, 1 driver, 1 gunner, 1 medic, 2 riflemen.
APC-command: (2 Apc's) 1 Squad-leader, 2 drivers, 2 gunners, 1 sniper or combat engineer. (The APC-squad should be followed by a planned Infantry squad so the total would be minimum 12 players)
2nd we need to Assign roles for each player. Possible we need to have a primary role and a 2ndary just in case.
Just because i made this thread doesn't mean I'm going to be squad-leader. I could be a squad-member if there is a better qualified squad-leader signing up. Depending on how this thread will develop we might even end up with 2 squads and 1 commander, with a total of 3 officers. To avoid "stacking" then if even more people wants to be part of the event there would be 2 opposing squads and commander as well.
3rd we need to start thinking about the plan (briefing)
So start posting if anyone would be interested in such an event, and if you want to join what role do you want to contribute with and what would you add to the Briefing room.
