[Article] Reality Studios Acquisition

Post by hobbnob »

The PR team have pulled out all the stops this year round, announcing the acquisition of Reality Studios. Doing this apparently means the cancellation of PR:V and PR:A. This seems to have caused a very odd reaction among the community, from acceptance and support to openly ridiculing the Devs .

?Although I was really looking forward to Arma 2 I wish you the best of luck on PR2. Thanks for what you have done for the BF2 community.?

?nice to know red tags will drop their pantaloons for the first DICE developer to offer them money.?

However, all is not lost. Should such an event happen it would make sense that it would come from the top, as in UK_Force. However, the news was broken through Ancientman, where it was April 1st at the time of his posting. The move has sparked a lot of people proclaiming it as a joke, apparently forgetting the matter of last year?s Vietnam announcement, as Dev Outlawz reminded us. As well as this, nuttex brought us to the fact that the popular Arma modding team ACE has announced that it has all of PR:A?s source material as a result of it?s closure, as originally posted by sickboy, which has no apparent trace to the PR team that could mean he?s in on it.

The fact of the matter is this: We?re not going to know whether this is true or not, or whether the PR devs know how they?re going to stop EA from doing as it?s done before to humble games like this. We can speculate, get infractions and get pissed off, but face it. This isn?t our mod. It?s the Dev?s.

ya know nugiman, that's quite possibly the most unhelpful post I've seen on one of my threads. I wrote this article in the space of an hour for a bit of practice, so keep discussion of the matter at hand in the relevant thread, I put this up here for feedback on the actual article.

okay let's for a moment think that what they say is true. For a start i think that all the communit faction DEV's wouldn't be best pleased that there hard work will not be included in the mod. Also i think much of the community will be very annoyed at PR: ArmA2 being canceled, i think joining with BIS would be a better way for PR to progress, even with it's lower budget the extra assistance and huge community that would combine to make one of the greater gaming companies yet.

Also by joining with EA many of the DEV's wouldn't actually like to join EA due to their large corperate status even if a large sum was offered to help PR develop I'm sure they'd relise it was a bribe to stop people from going away from BF2 and onto a MOD which would in the future end up to be a large mistake and many end up being fired in the end and changing reality studios into a arcade style company or even abandoning it all together.

Also i would've thought that with the large amount of DEV's on the team some would still work on both the projects.

just my thoughts if it were real, we still don't know, guys i wouldn't keep calling it an april fools untill it starts to happen.

Why on earth are you posting in this thread when the actual thread which this "article" is about can be found on this damn forum, right here?

And seriously, who would write an "article" on a website about something that happened on that very website? This is dumb. Go here and discuss this instead.

Tart your next post will be your 2,700th, make it special :D

I have been watching that thread, but personally I like to have information available in a concise format in one place if possible, so I made this for other people who feel the same.

"I love the smell of napalm in the morning. You know, one time we had a hill bombed, for 12 hours. When it was all over, I walked up. We didn't find one of 'em, not one stinkin' dink body. The smell, you know that gasoline smell, the whole hill. Smelled like... victory. Someday this war's gonna end... "
