No more BF:PR? Thoughts? Feelings?
I've been playing this game for a few years now (since 0.65 I think?) and I must say:
Wow. I always knew these guys making this incredible mod were going to make gaming history, and I'm glad to say they haven't let me down.
Personally I'm going to miss good ol' BF2 PR, and I'm sure there are going to be people playing it for a looong time after 0.96 is released. This is a game that I've played since I was 16. Its only gotten better, and better, and better. Consistantly. A true WORK OF ART.
Too bad we never got to see the wonderful things PR:V and PR:ARMA had to offer. That's a huge loss of gaming goodness in my eyes :/
PR2 should only be the most amazing thing since sliced bread and the wheel!
I hope BSS doesn't get forced into making crappy games for EA :/

Hold up though, last year PR:V was an april fools joke, turned out to be true, who is to say this isn't true also? Yes, some of the post might be a little out of the ordinary, but just think, not even we know if it's true. We just assume it's not because it happened to be posted on April 1, 2011.

It also doesn't feel right. I mean, think about it. Would the team really abandon us and everything they put hundreds of man hours to make? I don't think so.Maverick wrote:Hold up though, last year PR:V was an april fools joke, turned out to be true, who is to say this isn't true also? Would the team not accept real jobs doing the thing they love? Isn't that part of why they're making this mod? To get noticed, I'd assume.Killer2354 wrote:It also doesn't feel right. That, and to make something awesome.
Good april fools joke either way.

Actually the reason they started this mod is to put realism into BF2, not to get noticed. But ya, the April fools joke is a little too harsh.Irishchoctaw1015 wrote:Would the team not accept real jobs doing the thing they love? Isn't that part of why they're making this mod? First, it is Black Sand Studios, not Realitymod Studios.
2nd, EA afaik could take full control of PR if they wished.
3rd, they wouldn't play the same joke twice in a roll.

It's RS, which is associated with BSS, not tied at the hip by any means. RS is a professional studio, BSS is a collection of mods.goguapsy wrote:Guys...

If EA touched any original work from PR, RS, BSS or any other mod in any of their games, they (and now we) would leave themselves open in terms of IP. We created anything above and beyond BF2's content prior to RS's merger. Also, most here have never read the team's NDA.
Lastly, a LOT of people have already assumed this is a joke. We got bored of joking on April 1st 2 years ago.
We're still committed to putting out a quality final release of PR BF2.

If it is true then I have to ask, WHY EA??!?![R-DEV]Gaz wrote:It's RS, which is associated with BSS, not tied at the hip by any means. RS is a professional studio, BSS is a collection of mods.

Reality Mod - This web site
Black Sand Studios - a growing community consisting of multiple Mod team developers and beta testers for modifications based on EA?s Battlefield 2 and Crysis.
The only other joke I'm aware of is the Saigon Map joke(very funny)
And a conspiracy joke which was before my time on the forums.
This "joke" if it is, is not funny

Damn, an admin on one of my favourite servers said they just discontinued their licence now that dropping the BF2 projects has been confirmed.

Okay - so if this is real, why in the world would you tell us on April Fool's? Tell us on April the third so we wouldn't have to go through this whole "is it real?" "No it's April Fool's" thing.
