PR Grenadier help
Hey guys, I read through the manual and you know how there is sites for the Grenade launchers like 100M, 200M etc. I am learning how to hit a target accurately by determing the distance to the target using the keypads and the bigger grid squares on the map, obviously enemies don't show on the map, so I try to use landmarks such as houses shown on the map, only thing is that I don't know the distance between the keypads ingame? If anyone knows I would appreciate you telling me

25 meters is a grid on a 1K map, 50 on a 2K, 100 on a 4K. Usually you're not going to have time to figure that out though - perception's usually the better option, in my opinion anyway.

Bottom right corner of your minimap you'll find a scale.
Best bet is to ask SL for range using marker or GLTD.

After a while of playing, you will be able to tell the distance, also, if you shot and the grenade hit far away from the target then you need to make it less.

To be honest I would not even bother adjusting the sights unless you are going to be there for a while.
Set to the lowest range, fire a smoke/HE, see where it hits and adjust is much quicker and easier than finding out the range, setting it and then adjusting.

Re: PR Grenadier help
Usually, I keep my sights set for 100m. The 50m setting is hard to use with some sight configurations (I'm looking at you, M4 with optics that block the 50m sight) and the 100m setting is easy to adjust from by holding slightly above your target. If you need to fire quickly, odds are that the 100m setting will get you close enough to your target to keep you in the fight. If the target is so far away that you can't hit it by eyeballing the difference, they most likely aren't enough of a threat that you can't take a few seconds and adjust the range properly before engaging anyway.
As others have said, if you need to get an accurate range for longer targets, your best bet is to have your SL lase the target for you or at least hit it with a marker and give you an approximate range.
Oh, and the guys that are telling you to practice aren't being jerks. Practice with the grenade launcher will pay off hugely. Just load up a local server with an urban map, and sit by a crate shooting at windows and doors at varying ranges. The time spent will pay off in spades when you get to live matches. The grenadier kit alone is nasty. In the hands of someone that has practiced and can hit precision targets, it is downright devastating.

I try to adjust for the terrain as I move through it, setting it for a longer distance in open areas where threats are more likely to be engaged at distance and dropping it as we move into built up areas. If SL cannot provide distance at least I'm in the ballpark and can range it in quicker.
Like they say, go practice and get an eye for the distances from one setting like 100m or 150m

Re: PR Grenadier help
Most BLUFOR grenadier sights are perfect at 150m since it will show 3 bars, therefore 50 per 50 m. In most confrontations will occur within that radius so try to interiorize what's 50, 100 and 150 by practicing with it for a bit. Soon enough you won't even need to read the map to know the exact distance.
For higher distances however, pull out the minimap and the check the bottom right corner (preferably as soon as you get the grenadier). Have that number in your mind and then divide it by 3 so that it represents the total of 1 keypad. The next time you open the minimap it'll become easier to calculate, so be prepared in advance.
Do not ask the SL the distance unless you're really struggling or he says it first. In my view asking for the distance is nothing but pure laziness when it's simple math. Plus, you'll never get to properly master the weapon if you're expecting others to tell you how it's done.
And if there's anything I hate is when the SL tells me the distance since half the times the mini map calculation has a big margin of error. So I only rely on myself.
As for smoke nades, don't need to be accurate or wait for deviation to settle. An instant estimation will always work.
Ah, and always crouch if possible. Wait 2 to 3 seconds before firing each one.
I am hella confident/cocky with this kit and ofc it's my favourite. If you need a personal lesson or two, pm me.

Practice, more practice, then some more practice.
Like they say, practice might not make you perfect, but it sure makes you better!

I loved the old system and now with the 50,100,150 system i`ve stop using the kit. I spent hours learning how to judge and aim for spot on hits with the launcher. Now I am still self aiming on the sight but the range takes over and they never go where im aiming. I just carnt get why I should set range first when I use to be able to look aim fire boom. I guess its back to school.

If you want to retain as much of the advantages of the old system as possible, set the launcher height to minimum; to my knowledge, the minimum range setting launches the grenade with no upward angle relative to the crosshairs.

I struggled alot at first. I still can't pinpoint my nades as perfect as I did before (only slighty, still l337 with it!*NwA*Orford wrote:Its is a known fact the more you practice the luckier you get.

Between each ladder sight, you have to use your intuition and that's only achievable through alot of practice. Like I said before, don't try with the minimum range. Go for 150 if it has a sight. It'll show 3 ladders (for most Blufor ones) and from there - by ascending - you already know what's 150, 100 and 50. Trust me, it's best to start from there. So stay on the Blufor side everytime you're practicing the grenadier and then later in time you will use that intuition easily on Opfor ones.
For distances over 150...read the minimap. It's easy as pie.
Since it became a little more complicated, it's even more enjoyable for me to use. Still my favourite kit.

Just a note that the smoke GL's will kill if you hit the target dead on....
Found out the hard way when I smoked a Civi at 150m!
