PR running slower than ever

Greetings noblemen,

Pretty much, I used to be able to run PR on near enough all high with 8xAA, swimmingly. After 0.9, I had to downgrade a bit, dropped it mostly to medium still 8xAA. Recently, my performance has been getting worse and worse. I'm now on no AA, low textures and shadows, everything else medium and barely scraping 20 fps. My specs are:

Vista 32 (yah, I know!)
Intel Q6600 2.4 Ghz Quad Core
4 GB RAM (3 really)
NVIDIA 240 GTS

I think that's mostly what you need to know.

Anyway, so my hard drive was immensely full with only 6GB free, so I moved most stuff to an external HDD, and now have 46.2GB free (of 384GB) and I have defragged it all using this defragger. Short of upgrading bits (no money, not an option), cleaning the inside of my PC, what else do you guys reccomend me do?

Update drivers? That really helped for me.

do checks on your system to insure that they're working properly. Your ram could be bad. Close all your programs. You're using VISTA 32. Not only are you using VISTA... You're using 32 BIT.

Find a copy of Windows XP. By ANY MEANS NECCESSARY >_>

What Intel Processor do you have? 2.4ghz means shit. I could run my i7 at 2.4ghz and it's still faster than most peoples. >_> Much faster than my old amd at 3.2.

The nvidia card sounds kinda old. That could be kinda dying too. I know my 4890 is. D:

Sounds more like your computer is just slowly dying really, that on top of PR being pushed farther.

(Like just a week ago i was getting 80 fps on Falllujah, now i'm getting 55 D: )

i have pretty much the same problem as scot and same specs

since 0.9 i had to drop to medium

after 0.95 i had to drop them to all low apart from x2 AA 100% vd

reinstall BF2 i had to after .95 the whole engine got screwed up also after install of 95 make sure you defrag BF2 using game booster or what ever else you like it creates a lot of fragments.
scan for viruses, clean registry and update drivers, did wonders for me even on my shit *** laptop.

also GET A NEW OS!!!

Did you remember to thoroughly clean out the power supply?
