64 Bit Edition.... PR won't start but BF2 runs ok

Post by inlifex »

MSI K9N2 DIAMOND AMD Phenom Socket AM2+
AMD Phenom II X4 940 ~ 3.0Ghz
EVGA GTX 260 OC
4GB OCZ Platinum 1066
Seagate 1T
Rosewill 1000W

I've installed PR twice and when I go to click the PR icon nothing happens. I tried running BF2 and FH2 and they both work fine... I've also tried to access PR from BF2 but when it switches to PR it stops responding.

This is what the problem might be and I'm quite sure it is... When the installation prompted me to install Framework 3.5 it could not do it, the install would fail.

I looked online and found Framework 3.0 for Win XP 64 and it installed ok but then windows wanted an automatic update for "Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1 and .NET Framework 3.5 Family Update for .NET versions 2.0 through 3.5 (KB951847) x64" however this fails too...

I'm at a lost right now, I have framework 3.0 shouldn't PR run on that or does it still need the 3.5 version?

Please help.

Try running it in windowed mode:
Right click on the Project Reality icon.
Find the line called "Target".
Write "C:\...\Battlefield 2\BF2.exe" +menu 1 +fullscreen 0 +szx 1024 +szy 768".
This way you might get an error-message. Please post the error you get here.

I'm sorry, I forgot to mention it... I did try doing that but still no response. This trick only works when the program (bf/pr) loads but then crashes... I'm not getting a crash, it just wont start at all :cry:

EDIT: OK, I went into BF2 and switched over to PR and left my desk... after a few minutes PR did come up however, it displayed that one message bout using the correct shortcut, and it only gives me an option to exit.
Could this be at all due to Framework issue?

OK... this is just weird. I just noticed a notepad on my desktop titled "project realiprError"

This is what it contained...

Monday, April 11, 2011 10:49:45 PM
---------------------------------
System.MissingMethodException: Method not found: 'System.String System.Windows.Forms.OpenFileDialog.get_SafeFileName()'.
at n.i()
at g.a(String[] A_0)

Any idea what this gibberish means?

BTW, thanks for all your help.

Hmm. Try running the PR installer as administrator. That might help you

Shortcut 'target' should be:
"C:\Program Files \EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\mods\pr\pr.exe" start +widescreen 0 +szx 1024 +szy 768 +restart
"There's nothin' like a nice piece of hickory"

I play on TeamPlayersGaming where it's all about the teamwork.

Was the shortcut I gave him wrong? If that's the case, I'm very sorry!
