Riding inside moving vehicles

Post by Lugi »

I'm just wondering.
Is it possible to be inside moving vehicle, such as a truck, motorboat, chinook or any other which allows you to do it, and surivive the ride? Is the vehicle vs. player collision working good then?

No, it won't kill you if you're moving slowly, but any useful speed kills the rider.

Useful speed, or anything but flat terrain/very careful flight. It's only good for the lulz.

Once jumped into a Chinook that I didn't realize was full. I lasted a good ten seconds before being forceably hurled into the abyss. Of course, I was able to meet the Chinny at its destination, where it immediately dropped a supply crate on my head, killing me. Such is life.

Got reminded of Joint Operations now, we could do that in it, even drive vehicles into helicopters... Damn your limitations, BF2 engine!...

JO had 150 iirc :P

the best moment I remember was when I was hapily crawling through the grass (JO had a nice camo system btw that occasionally looks like hte preditor is prone when you looked at it laterally) and I heard a chopper coming...

'oh dear' I thought, fearing a gunrun by slap happy littlebirds.

but I was wrong, it wasn't a littlebird...

It was a littlebird with a jeep on top firing a MK19 grenade launcher at everything in view.

that was the day I decided to move to BF2 :P though the icing on the cake was the strange deathzones bug that started up.

or was it when you fired the m60 on a boat, but the lag was so bad that the bullets went behind you and killed everyone in your boat...I cant remember :P

Once an idiot jumped into our chinook and died when we took off. The pilot got kicked for teamkilling 30 seconds later and everyone died.

Don't do it.

I miss the BF1942 engine. You could do all kinds of fun stuff with it, like using a technical as a fast makeshift AA missile platform in Desert Combat.

Me and |TG|Aeron_CDN were in a Chinook when one squad member jumped into the chopper, not pressing E since he didn't know you needed to. The chopper subsequently took off, and we were watching him bounce around for about 100 meters before his body spazzed out and he flew out the back.

We were laughing so hard we forgot to tell him to press E lol.
