Problem with in-game menu abruptly popping up

Hello everyone and thank you for taking time to read this post.

My current problem is that while in the middle of a round the in-game menu will randomly find its way to my screen. I have no other issue with the game and I am not hitting the "esc" key. I am on Windows 7 and PR is run as administrator.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Are you using a torrent-version of Battlefield 2? It may be defective.

No I am not. I guess a complete uninstall is called for then.

Check your controls setup. Sounds like it got mapped to a key by mistake.
If you don't have a lot of custom settings you can just set controls back to 'default', quit game then restart.
Don't forget to hit the 'apply' button to save changes.
