'You must use pr.exe to run Project reality'

I've had this error come up after trying to log in and have been browing help threads for hours, trying everything to no avail. I've run the shorcut with admin rights, retrieved accounts, checked the shorcut is correct but nothing is working.

Check the paths of 'Target
and 'start in" of your shortcut.
Should look like this with Vista/W7 (XP lose the (x86) )

Target:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\mods\pr\pr.exe" start +fullscreen 1 +szx 1024 +szy 768 +restart

Start in:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\mods\pr"

Already checked. It's exactly the same but still gives the error message.

Have you tried starting PR directly from the PR.exe? If it works just make a new shortcut.

Hello, I having them same problem,I using the window 7 steam version
The first time it happened I did a clean install, this helped for a bit and allowed me to play but then it started doing it again then I tried the directory thing you advised above, and that seemed to work
"C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\battlefield 2\mods\pr\pr.exe" start +fullscreen 1 +szx 1024 +szy 768 +restart

"C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\battlefield 2\mods\pr"

but then it stopped working, and it been working off an on, it rather annoying, last time I got it to work I played lowered the graphics settings then got off and now I can't get back on.
I even tried the .exe in the game folder, it not working.

I have the same problem but with XP.
I tried the "

Target:

Start in:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\mods\pr"

solution but it told me the target file didn't exist.
Then I realized since I DL the game it isn't label EA games so I changed it back but it doesn't work.
Please help


deleted everthing.
loaded PR into an EA GAMES folder
still doesn't work
thought maybe I could get STEAM to load the BF2 file into an EA GAMEs folder but that didn't work
I've been forced to play vanilla for over 4 hours now and it is truly cruel and unusual punishment since VIOP doesn't seem to work for me there.

baschi found the answer for the steam lauch
You have to add PR to the "non-steam" games list under the games tab
