Re: Starting
Press Caps Lock and join the desired squad.
And read the PR 0.957 manual, I am not saying this because of what you are asking, but because it is really helpful for beginners.

Welcome to PR and the forums!
As I see you are very new, so it'd probably be best if you (assuming you haven't done so already) carefully read the manual before blindly hopping onto a PR server, for playing PR completely unprepared might result in a very frustrating and disappointing experience.
To get to know the basic spawning system etc, you might want to play a round or two of normal Battlefield 2, and then read the manual, because it doesn't cover every bit of detail regarding BF2, as most players here had played it before. BF2 explains everything very well with ingame-tutorials as soon as you join a server.
Once you've done that and read the manual, hop onto a server and join the correct squad: Look for squads named "INF TEAMWORK" or something like that; don't join non-infantry squads at first, and stick with basic kits, such as rifleman. Make sure you communicate - if the squad leader does not respond to you or isn't nice, don't hesitate to leave the squad, team or server and search for a better place. A good squad leader, when you tell him that you're new, will guide you through the basics. There's also a few training servers around and the co-op mode servers, where people are more likely to have time for in-depth explanations of how everything works. The manual is still the easiest thing to start with.
I wish you good luck and a great first game of PR! =)

Closed as this will quite obviously devolve into a spam thread.

"I love the smell of napalm in the morning. You know, one time we had a hill bombed, for 12 hours. When it was all over, I walked up. We didn't find one of 'em, not one stinkin' dink body. The smell, you know that gasoline smell, the whole hill. Smelled like... victory. Someday this war's gonna end... "
