Sturdiness of vehicles
I've noticed while playing some insurgency maps, that even if you have a full squad (including automatic riflemen) firing at a light vehicle such as a Humvee, that no one inside gets hurt. I wouldn't expect small arms fire to destroy a vehicle, but when you've got lots of high-caliber bullets crashing through your windshield constantly, you're probably going to get hit with one. Another issue is choppers. Small caliber weapons I would expect to bounce off, but the protection the pilot has against .50 caliber machine guns is rather annoying. To summarize, light vehicles provide too much protection for those inside.

Can't say I agree with you there in regards to the .50 cal fire.
I've taken a lot of drivers/pilots out of hummers, trucks and choppers while in the back of a techie.

Most likely an engine limitation. You can't shoot through the windshield of any vehicle. I really hate that when I see Gary coming at me, and I just for the sake of my life, can't shoot the guy inside
Has to be done from the side, where the window is open.

I suspect this feedback is really about the humvee.
I suspect that this hasn't been changed due to the humvee's nature of being from USI and that there is a up-armoured humvee model in the works. Thanks for the feedback, it'll be taken in to consideration for the new model I'm sure.

LOL, that explains why I was finding the current humvee a little tacky.
That's so good to know, I can't wait to see that baby. No longer would I be afraid to grab the .50 cal...I think.

Vehicles need a rework with regards to them all being bulletproof, as far as i'm aware this is in the works and hopefully we'll see proper penetration of rounds when firing at techies, etc.

I can't wait to see all the buttpain when the devout Taliban/insurgent players can't use the techie as an invincible machine of awesome/roadkill.

I never said I play Blufor exclusively, I loves me some INS, probably even more than I like playing Blufor. I was referring to those who don't really do anything but abuse the techie. Yes, it is effective, and yes, I will admit that it's fun to ride around on a tech and gun/run down any Blufor in sight, but you gotta admit that the bullet proof-ness of the technical is straight up bananas.

Re: Sturdiness of vehicles
I know, but I think that any changes won't get compromised for INS. When they update a vehicle, we won't get an extra type of vehicle for instance. But BLUFOR though have much more replacements, if the Humvee is weakened, they will just use their APCs. While the INS have hide in a corner, and wait for a lonewolf to destroy the cache. And abusing the techy, what is abusing really? Roadkilling? BLUFOR does it when they have the chance in this game, the only type of abusing a techy is ramming it into assets or attacking armoured vehicles.TmanEd wrote:I never said I play Blufor exclusively, I loves me some INS, probably even more than I like playing Blufor. If the techie gets nerfed, then they can use it in different ways (you could call it the way it's 'supposed' to be used, but let's not get into that). Instead of being out in the open for extended periods of time because small arms fire can't do shit to a techie now, they could use more guerrilla tactics (gee insurgents using guerrilla tactics who'd have thought?), like popping out from a corner to spray at an unsuspecting enemy for a few seconds, and then getting out of there as soon as the return fire starts to come.

Re: Sturdiness of vehicles
Certain vehicles do seem to be subject to rounds killing the driver. For instance, a gary's windshield is bulletproof in this game. However, a big red's is not. As for the humvees, I've had plenty of instances where a round or two has come through the windshield and caused me to take damage. Luck of the draw I suppose.
As for the pick-up truck technicals, I agree that their toughness is ridiculous, and unrealistic. Not to mention the frustration of the occurances where the .50 gunner is invincibile. I think the armor needs to be toned down a tad, and the crews more succeptable to explosions from grenades and the like.

Nah, there's many more of these "bulletproof issues".[R-DEV]Rudd wrote:I suspect this feedback is really about the humvee.

Re: Sturdiness of vehicles
Humvees in real life are pretty armoured.
I mean they can be shot at by 50 AK?s and the windshield will withstand 99% of the bullets.
I think they did it pretty well in PR.
Ok the techie is ridiculous because its meant to not have any armour but still, the humvees are good.
The only time a bullet of an AK should come through the windshield is when previously 50 other bullets hit exactly one spot in the windshield.
