In your hands maybe. I find a good sniper can sometimes be invaluable to a team. Many a time on Muttrah for example I've stopped whole squads advancing as they get pinned down, or taken out enemies on AA and AT saving our valuable assets. Also spotting and lazing for CAS is part of their role.

Some people here are a bit clueless, but I do agree it can be misused and used poorly if the sniper just lonewolves and doesnt work with the team.

Having a spotter isnt always necessary but on some maps, again, like Muttrah it can be effective to have the extra eyes, protection, rope and take away some of the responsibility for relaying info.

i usually only grab the sniper when there's a priority target like an AT emplacement which i cant get close enough to use a marksman on. <in this case we usually don't have a commander or anyone else using it. within that criteria i'm usually on my own or with a full squad.

when i do go spotting for mortars/lasing for CAS i tend to feel an assault rifle is better than a sniper rifle. i'm more likely to turn a corner into an enemy then to find someone i "need" to shoot at a good distance.

on INS i grab it when there are no more marksman

how you use it is up to you, as long as you're contributing info from time to time to the team.
Information in the hands of a critical thinker is invaluable, information alone is simply dangerous.

I love whoring enemy sniper kits and using them against themselves.

Yeah, so do I if i'm Insurgent. But that's part of the problem really, it's a l33t kit.

Suggestion made regarding having an FAC kit on conventional maps instead of a Sniper. it should be visible soon when a Mod ok's it.

Why don't snipers zoom out of the scope with the bolt action is cycled like in vBF2?

Why would they? It was changed because staying zoomed in makes taking the next shot easier.

I guess it's because it would take to long.. Not sure tho

Honestly, the sniper can be a pretty useful piece of equipment. As stated previously, you can scare the hell out of a squad if you tag one of their members with it, especially if it was an officer or a medic. I've used them on several occasions and they're perhaps one of the most useful tools there is ... IF you know how to use it. It's good for getting those people who are peaking out from windows or from very small openings. Knocking assets out is a good thing as well.

The only sniper I seem to have trouble with is the Lee Enfield because the scope on that thing is garbage. It used to have the best scope in the game in terms of crosshairs, but it was changed.

Sorry pal, it won't be getting approved as it's been suggested so many times before I'll just link my search results rather than the individual threads:

Search next time ;)

"I love the smell of napalm in the morning. You know, one time we had a hill bombed, for 12 hours. When it was all over, I walked up. We didn't find one of 'em, not one stinkin' dink body. The smell, you know that gasoline smell, the whole hill. Smelled like... victory. Someday this war's gonna end... "

Ahh I never searched.. Apologies. I did look at the Already Suggested Suggestions list though and couldn't see anything.

Trying to search for the relevant thread now.. Damn search thing making me wait 15 seconds after it throws up irrelevant threads.

Edit, I found this:

https://www.realitymod.com/forum/f10-pr ... moval.html

But it's in General Discussion.. Would it not be fair to have a proper specific discussion on it in the Suggestions Forum?

They would because it would make sniping harder, and would encourage snipers to take out High Priority targets (The sniper's role according to the manuel)

If sniping is made harder, therefore, less vBF2 noobs and PR "1337 Veterans" would go out in the woods and go 38-0: simple as that.

If sniping is made harder - i think even mor ePR 1337 veterans will go sniping and what is most interesting, they would still get 38-0
