Windows server for +64 ?
I found this from net, it is complain about SISU test server but which part I'm more interested is statement about +64 player Windows server.
"When UK Warfare tested their 256player (windows based) pr server last year, they were forced to shut it down due to the server liscences. From this point, work on this dedicated server had stopped and returned to normal. Please bare in mind that this was a fully working server with no bugs such as what is seen on the SISU server."
If they have this bug free Windows server code, why they wont share it with Dev's because as far as I know we still need working Windows server for +64 players?
I'm also interested about comments from people who did play on that UK Warfare server with +64 players on it, was there any crashes or was it totally bug free as stated?

I didn't even know there was a server with more than 64 players, until you guys showed up..? It would have been big news, but haven't seen or heard any of that.

Since Christmas 2010, and in the matter of 4 months. Communities around the world has noticed an epic decrease in Project Reality Players in general.
Old story is old, wonder if this mantra will ever go away.

if their server was shut down it was because they didn't ask to do it first? the number of players has in fact increased, just less of them are going on UKWF.

I do not remember any working (let alone bug free) 64+ server since the first testing of Tema and Soppa's work.

Re: Windows server for +64 ?
ive seen some 100+ and also 200+ servers in the past (1 - 2 years ago), but they were always empty and so i guess they didnt work. none of them was the UKWF server, if i remember correctly they were located in south america.[R-CON]Adriaan wrote:I do not remember any working (let alone bug free) 64+ server since the first testing of Tema and Soppa's work.
what a strange petition by the way? is anyones server lacking of players due to unknown reasons and now the hunt for any culprit is opened? blaming somebody else is always easier than trying to figure out which mechanisms are really goin on. believe me, we germans got a great deal of experience bout that

Re: Windows server for +64 ?
There have been tests before i dont know if that was on the UKWF server though. But afaik they never reached the magic number 65. In the server browser it had 256 open slots but no one could join after 64.

Re: Windows server for +64 ?
Have been in this community since way before PR or even BF2 was even released and I have never seen a successful test of 65+ players until you and Tema did your magic recently. There have been many attempts but the magic player 65 never was able to connect.
What the petition neglects to realise is that this test is in association with the devs so will of course not follow the PR license.

I have to agree Danke.Since Christmas 2010, and in the matter of 4 months. Communities around the world has noticed an epic decrease in Project Reality Players in general.
We never experienced any loss of players due to the big server...far from it, we have quite more players since then.

Technically, exactly what is changed to make it work in Linux? The .pyc:s are universal as far as know. That leaves server binary or some sort of loader/initializer. Is it possible to just port it? The magic of high level languages

last friday: with the 128 server up, 5 players, all regulars who are always there to prime.
this friday: 45 players, most commenting on how 128 was shut down.
coincidence?
then it should be a closed test untill its ready to be released. you have beta testers, use em.Rico wrote:What the petition neglects to realise is that this test is in association with the devs so will of course not follow the PR license.
and its not very nice attacking UKWF members when theyre not here to respond.

Re: Windows server for +64 ?
Stress test the 128 player server with twenty-something beta testers, whom happen to be spread out across multiple time zones?
Yeah, I'm sure that would work out nicely...
??:
Think before you speak and make a fool of yourself, just ask Dun3m.

Re: Windows server for +64 ?
Whos claiming that UKWF had working +64 servers before? Anyone whos ever tried going past 64 has had their server crash... and claiming 256 is much considering nobody else has ever had that amount of their server.

It has to be an open test to get the required playercount. We have about 20 beta testers so that is completely unfeasable to use only them.
Also, by my count only one UKWF member cannot respond currently and there is a very good reason for that; ie. because he failed to construct an argument without being abusive, demanding and downright disrespectful to the PR Team. No-one is attacking UKWF here, I think a few have simply pointed out some of the ludicrous inaccuracies that made the original argument so fundamentally flawed.

Re: Windows server for +64 ?
I think we should keep these discussions behind closed doors. Its not healthy for our community. Then again, its always fun to watch, but that doesnt make it right.
In anyway, its quite obvious there is no proof of the UKWF server having a 65+ server. But if someone could reenact the recipy on how they did it. Maybe we can debunk this statment?
