Game won't launch after computer lockup

Post by ltrobertcole »

The game as been running fine for the past 3 days. However about 10 minutes ago my computer completely locked up while in a game. Now every time I launch PR on the desktop shortcut it keeps giving me an error saying you must launch PR using PR.exe. I am using the Steam version of BF2.

I got it to launch finally and yesterday the game ran fine. But now after about an hour of game play my computer locks up and makes this loud noise through my headset. Any suggestions as to what's going on?

Windows 7 64bit
Core 2 Duo 3.0
4 gigs DDR3
GeForce GTX 260

Try this:
In Steam
  1. Right click on BF2
  2. Properties
  3. Local Files
  4. Verify Integrity of Game Cache
Also check if your system is maybe overheating.

I'll do that. Also I can play BF2 just fine for hours it's only PR that seems to be doing this.

It found 3 files missing. I'm going to try and play the game now and see if the problem still exists.
