I am aware there are multiple posts with similar issues however after performing a whole lot of troubleshooting I felt posting a new thread my help the cause.
Problem:
When starting PR I can load the splash screen, when loading up to the login screen my monitors flicker and the game crashes to desktop. All game processes stop running.
Possible Causes:
PR was working fine 4/13/2011 - After I finished a round, instead of disconnecting I used alt+f4 to close the game. When I launched PR the next time on 4/14/2011 This problem occurred.
System Specs:
Intel Core i7 920 @ 2.66
EVGA GeForce GTX460 1GBx2 running inSLI
-Using the 266.58 driver (latest version)
6GB DDR3 G-Skill Trident
Dual monitor Config @ 1920x1080
Windows 7 Ultimate x64
Troubleshooting Performed
-Reinstall PR
-Reinstall BF2 (updating from disc all the way to 1.5)
-Disable 2nd Monitor
-Reinstall Video Drivers
-Change Resolution
-Run as Administrator
-Run from the pr.exe
-Adjust resolution and refresh rate in video.con
-Disable desktop effects
-Launch in window mode
-Launch at low resolution
**All troubleshooting was performed on pr.exe AND bf2.exe
When I reinstalled bf2 and updated I was able to load BF2 without issue. After installing PR and launching from the pr.exe I experience the same issue explained above and now BF2 has the same issue as well. I've uninstalled PR and BF2 still has the same issue.
Any help is appreciated. Thanks
***UPDATE***
Rebooting the machine after uninstalling PR allows me to launch BF2. I have changed the video settings to my native resolution and am now reinstalling PR
**UPDATE 2**
After reinstalling PR and setting up video settings in BF2 prior to the install, verified I could still open BF2 then launched PR with no issue.
This is very strange.

Thanks for posting your troubleshooting results.
You may of had quicker results by reinstalling BF2 before PR.

Re: Crash to Desktop after Splash
I've had some similar troubles before with this stuff. It happened when I tried to run PR on a screen with the same resolution as posted above. I had to change the resolution and refresh rate in the video.con of both the default and my own account to the native resolution and refresh rate of the screen. At first I had edited only the video.con of the default client, which got me past the splash screen and at the login screen. At logging in it then crashed. After editing the video.con of my own account it worked.
When you edited the resolution and refresh rates, did you edit them in both the default and personal accounts?

Re: Crash to Desktop after Splash
whatever your native resolution is. if you dont know it just find your screen model number(its usualy written on the back) and check on the interwebz. than go to bf2/profiles/video.con i think.

Moved to BF2 Support.
