Donations
After playing this mod for a few years there is one thing that I don't get at all - donations.
I was reading the FH forums about issues with people asking for cash to help with the costs related to running his server (expensive hardware and bandwidth) and this has made me write here.
We all know it costs cash to host this and any forum, money to rent a server and bandwidth.
There are many guys that play nearly daily so monthly upwards of 100 hours isn't rare, its costs 3euros to rent a movie for two hours, 10 euros to watch a movie in a cinema but many players never donate 1euro to anywhere.
It frustrates me to see 100's of euros spent on empty servers every month that even if just a small part was donated to BSS or active servers that would reduce stress for the DEV's and server operators and reduce the frequently seen and understandable hostility to players that never, ever ever help financially. Of course the moment there's a problem people are very very quick to complain.
At the moment I fear the situation is that a small amount of DEV's are paying themselves to keep this forum up and that in each server clan or community a few guys pay for the server.
I play perhaps 50 hours a month, I think 10euros a month for that to be excellent value (that's Euro.20c/15UK pence an hour) considering the above mentioned alternatives.
There are some guys that can't afford anything, but I'm sure that over half the players could easily spare 5euros a month. Those guys who are unable to pay can easily donate their time as server admins or forum mods.
My question is why are mod gamers so tight with cash (but not with criticisms lol)??

I'll donate when I have enough money to spare, and have enough time to sort out my bank accounts.

Re: Donations
I've been wondering the same. There's so many members here that even a 1$ donation is plenty as long as more people do it.
Not that anyone should feel obligated to donate, but running the development infrastructure and the website/forums isn't exactly free, so donating is an easy way to show appreciation for a mod that many here have played more than most other full games.

Re: Donations
I agree, more people should donate, however one of the problems is that many gamers are simply quite young and therefore do not have access to funds and can't ask their parents to dontate to a community that they know nothing about and have no interest in.You have donated $6.88 on average per month since you have joined

Re: Donations
Or you can just click on ads all day long (actually don't because Google ads would probably downgrade the PR website if too much spam clicking happened on it, "so don't do that at home kids !")

Re: Donations
Maybe some forum members would prefer this instead of the OP arguments: "Yo dawg, you can get a cool "Supporting Member" title for only 10$ (or more if you're a happy spender). "
Nah, I'm just trollin. The truth is, I've had the same thought as OP. Now I have a big plan to donate 10$ every year that PR takes away from my life. It's better than nothing
EDIT: Oskar, mate, you'll never have enough money to spare, trust me. We are built that way.

Re: Donations
don't worry, the PR team isn't afraid of crits - especially if they are constructive (which is where alot of posts fail)My question is why are mod gamers so tight with cash (but not with criticisms lol)??
my personal belief is that some players hold in their opinions for ages, then vomit them all over the unsuspecting public with a rant post to prevent self explosion.
the PR team loves feedback, the more specific the better, negative/positive, we love it; and we want more.

Re: Donations
I think that players don't know where the donations are going to, maybe a chart to show where the money goes to would be nice?

There is only one unforgivable lie That is the lie that says, This is the end, you are the conqueror, you have achieved it and now all that remains is to build walls higher and shelter behind them. Now, the lie says, the world is safe.? The Great Khan.

Re: Donations
All SM's get extra 9mm side-arm regardless of kit for donations of 5 euro that lasts a month - that should do it.
All guys over 18 I can't believe that they can't find and spare 5 euros in a 12 month period....
I'm not just talking about here, but also if guys virtually always play on the same server I would feel obliged to donate and have. Like when the PRWC crashed took ages to scrape a relatively small sum together.

Well its true that the difference is abysmal when you consider that minecraft when it was still in Alpha made 10.000.000€ in sales. Compare the amount of work on one side and the other and you do ask yourself if if things couldn't be done a bit differently.
At the same time PR isn't about making money, heck half the team would probably have ripped each other throats for coffee money if people where getting paid

In my case, it's more to do with having no idea about paypal and that sort of stuff, and normally buying everything in stores. I should really donate, though...All guys over 18 I can't believe that they can't find and spare 5 euros in a 12 month period....
