Hello, ever since I first got PR, my game has been running horribly.
The highest FPS, even on the lowest settings, has been 25. On average I play with 15 fps.
Here are my specs:
Steam bought
Windows Vista x64 bit
GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTS 250
CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad CPU Q8200 @ 2.33GHZ (4CPUs), ~2.3GHz
RAM: 4 gigabytes
363 gigs of free space
I also just defragged my hard drive a few days ago.
To my knowledge, this is above the recommended specs, but I still have terrible performance.

You should try updating your drivers.

Re: Horrid Performance
That worked a bit. I can run everything on very high at 1680x1050 with around 20-30 fps.
City maps still bring me to my knees, I'll try a lower resolution later.

Try clearing the video cache folder.
On 32bit its C:/Users/yourusername/My Documents/Battlefield 2/cache
Delete all the contents inside the cache folder.

Download CCLeaner
Download CCleaner 3.07.1457 - FileHippo.com
Install CCleaner.
Open CCleaner.
ON the left panel, select Tools
on the new screen, select Startup
deselect unneccessary startup programs... such as adobeupdater, googleupdater, microsftwebcam autorun, Quicktime autorun, any quicksync programs for mp3 players or cell phones or webcams or printers, etc.
Do this by highlighting each one, then selecting Disable.
That'll save some RAM.
You can then try to optimize Vista:
Download this optimization guide:
TweakGuides.com - The TweakGuides Tweaking Companion
You can then optimize BF2 vanilla:
(this one is a little dated, but still good)
TweakGuides.com - Battlefield 2 Tweak Guide
Update your Nvidia drivers, your mobo drivers, and soundcard drivers.
You can then get extreme and use a customizable defragger to move all your BF2 ad PR files to the front of your hard drive...
disable any other defraggers first!
download mydefrag from mydefrag.com
you will then have to enter the forums there and learn how to write a custom script, test it, then give it several hours to shift all of your files...
be warned that this is not a real good solution to gain maybe 1 or 2 fps... but it's a legit option.
