No good IDF maps

Post by sr.bambino »

Why are there no good maps with IDF?

Israel's northern border with Syria is composed of long sweeping green hills, with Lebanon it is a little bit more rocky and mountainous, and in the south with Egypt there is a giant desert.

As for the Gaza map, it needs to be remade, with the outer edges being the wall that Israel has constructed and within the wall the city of Gaza.

Why do I say these things need to be done? Because the Tar-21 is an awesome rifle and the Merkava is an awesome tank, and don't lie, you love the Israeli voice mod.

PS: And for god's sake, IDF vs MEC, is it that hard to imagine? IDF vs Russia... really?

I like the IDF maps, don't know anything about Israeli territory in real life though so i don't know about how the maps should be. But i think they are awesome :D

This always struck me as odd, yes. I had a check a few times it wasn't a bug when I saw it was Russia and not MEC on the maps.

Oh look, I got 111 on my first post back after two years.

Why not have a go at making your own map? Have a chat with some of the guys in the community modelling forum, they'd help you out i'm sure.

Once you've made it, let a DEV know and they'll give you feedback on it, and if its good enough maybe put it ingame?

Personally i agree with you, i'd like to see another IDF map, but i like the ones there already.

Would be the logic opponent. For example just now israeli military is shooting civilian protesters in another country. Its hard to see a way that wont escalate into another war at some point.

Infraction given for flamebaiting. Keep political debate in the political debate forum.

make a map yourself if your not happy with the once you have tbh there is no real feedback here on the maps just lots of rant.

I found this sentence quite funny and since this is a war game forum I will put it here. No offense to the french just a good laugh.

Why dont you cry some more? it seems to come natural with you.

Personally i like Beirut, since the Infantry fights are quite balanced against the Russians (might add that i hate the G3 in most cases so i do not like to play MEC a lot)

I'm not crying, hating or complaining. At least I didn't mean for it to come out as a complain. More so, a plea to someone with mapping skills and time to make a legit map. I'd love to make a map but I'm in uni, I don't have the time : /

and Feriluce, your comment is misleading and bias against Israel, but for no reason should there be a pro vs. anti Israel debate here. If you want that go to youtube.

A thread about Israel?

Shouldn't this be in News & Political Discussion, under the title "Queen goes to Ireland?"

:p

But serially, I quite enjoy Beirut, but I'm sure there will be other maps being made, I wouldn't worry about it :)

Gentlemen

Do not post in a thread unless you have something to contribute. While the phrasing of the feedback OP post could have been a little bit better, e.g. the Russian comment could have been better expressed, the thread is reasonably constructive. The PR team loves feedback, negative or positive, we want it and we want the community to feel they can post it without being shouted down for no reason.

the OPs points are valid

however we have the Russia Desert skins, and we want to use them. Thus Beirut, I'd prefer a more plausible setup of MEC vs IDF. However the mod has moved away from such constrictions.

Though if you want better maps for the IDF, you need to get on and learn the editor.

There are fans of the IDF, GB, US, USMC, GER, RU, MEC, HAMAS, INSURGENTS and CH, each team can only have so many maps and generally the mapper gets to choose who goes on the map; the team choice is sometimes the motivation for making a map. Burning Sands for example got started because I said to myself that the brits needed a new desert map. With so many teams and not so many maps, they must be rationed :P

Yet you have time to play the maps you're complaining about and post on forums?

If we're truthful, neither you nor I can be bothered to become amazing mappers and fix the problem. I've shared a fair bit of criticism of maps (mostly 4km ones) over the years and even twice loaded up the mapping part of the editor but at the end of the day some people have what it takes and make awesome maps, and others, like me, don't. I did pull fallujah apart many times trying to figure out what the cause of the fps loss was and after about 20 hours of bashing my head against crashes and nonsensical results, I figured that the bf2 engine simply does not handle the static object density that fw has. There is probably a better, real explanation, but I couldn't find it.

So at the end of the day it is not about enough time, it's more about "can I be bothered", and I assume your answer is no?

The thing about Beirut that bothers me is that it feels like a bare city. Beirut is a middle eastern city, these cities have outdoor markets and random stuff in the streets. The city has very little cover besides concrete walls. There are other city maps with a decent amount of **** in the road that makes them feel more like a city in a war zone. Beirut seems bare like a training course... does anyone know what I'm talking about?

And to answer some other people: Some people have the time to acquire the necessary skills to make a map that assists in games being good and have low latency and amount of bugs. I simply don't have that time. I used to play video games on a daily basis, now it's not even on a weekly basis.
