sadly i have to agree

as much of an epic map Beirut is (even if unrealistic) it doesnt have much in terms of cover. There are not many objects in the map to use as cover apart from just buildings and the odd wall.

maybe make the roads narrower and the buildings closer together to make it feel more 'city like' or add more objects such as markets stalls, cars, trees and all that jazz 8)

All of these fights in PR are fictional. The MEC is a make-belief faction, as are all the conflicts. More maps will come in the future, just be patient

Guys someone tell me what OP means!!! It is driving me crazy!!!! LOL

Anyway... You are correct mate, the maps in no way represent Israeli terrain but I guess they are lacking mappers.

I have had great fun quite a few times on Iron Eagle infantry layer.

Without the make or break of CAS it has been good.

I think they wanted to fade out MEC at some point, thats why its Russian. Insurgency is the bread and butter of the IDF. How many conventional wars did the IDF have? 3? 4?

So they made all this MEC models and uniforms, weapons and equipment and so forth just to phase out MEC?

Yeah, that and there's a lack of outskirts to transition between apartment buildings and bare desert.

Importantly it wasn't actually based on Beirut at all.

I think theres enough good maps for IDF.
Beirut is cool.
Gaza Beach is cool(with a good team).
Iron Eagle is ok (too big in my opinion).

Alright, I apologize for claiming that 'there are no good IDF maps' because the ones up aren't bad. I'm just disappointed that the real terrain of Israel is not represented. Sorry for the fail wording.

Operation Marlin (Which is FF vs IDF) is a VERY cool map. I played it during the PRTA community event testing that map.
It takes place in the Eastern district of Beruit, and it is a lush city that was flourishly detailed, just like Muttrah.

I think its been said earlier, but if you want a specific map of your favoite faction, do a little research and make some maps yourself. I have some neat ideas for maps that I will concept this summer when I'm out of school.

It may be your opinion that the maps are bad. Someone put work into them, and Gaza i a pretty decent map in terms of detail. If you want it remade, make it yourself.

I'd be inclined to say...

Gaza Beach - Could probably do with being larger; 1K's an edge on the small side.
Iron Eagle - Suffers from a mixture of inaccessible terrain and the camper-pleasing design of bunker complex. Fun if you like flying Havocs; less fun if you're slogging it out as infantry.
Asad Khal - Essentially a seeder and skirmish map. 'Nuff said.
Beirut - As said, doesn't really resemble a city (needs more stuff, like Ramiel). Can be fun but its replayability is hindered somewhat by a concept that doesn't allow for much in the way of vehicles.

I would love more IDF maps, and I really understand the claim that they dont really represent Israel, Marlin lookes amazing and I think that woudl make me change my mind, actually when its released Beirut should be renamed and Marlin should get that title.
About the current maps:
Gaza - very fun to play but the city itself is slightly boring, I agree that if it was bigger it could be a much better experience.
Beirut - again I agree. Had some epic rounds with my clan on this map but it looks nothing like the real one and doesnt really resembele a real city.
Asad - skirmish is fun while waiting for Muttrah or something, but I dont like the AAS.
Iron Eagle - Havent really played the AAS but the map is beautiful, it looks really good and different with quite a few tactical choices. I can say that the skirmish layer is f*cking epic, only played it about 4 times but they were the best skirmishes ive ever played, the town is great and it really makes a change from the average scrim.
