Need some basic help

***Crosspost from General Discussion after realizing that I'll get more replies in Support

Ok, I've been on the fence about PR for months, mostly because I'm skeptical of my hardware, I have two options:

Macbook Pro 13" 2009 running Win7 via Boot Camp
-2.26gHz Core 2 Duo
-4gb DDR3 1067mHz
-NVIDIA GeForce 9400M 512mb vRAM

Video showing BF2 (High settings) on same computer, only difference is that i have twice the RAM:
YouTube - Battlefield 2 @ MacBook Pro 13" with nVidia Geforce 9400, settings: high

Same guy showing medium settings:
YouTube - Battlefield 2 @ MacBook Pro 13" with nVidia Geforce 9400, settings: medium

My second option is my really old desktop
1.7ghz Core 2 Duo
Nvidia 7600gs
1gb RAM but don't know what type
*Full mic input/output ports

Basically, I need help choosing which PC to play PR and an estimate on what settings I will be able to play it on for around 40-60 FPS on average. Also, I know that a mic is pretty much imperative for PR so thats an issue for my laptop, as RAM might be an issue for my desktop...

PLEASE ADVISE

Looks like you should go with the macbook. PR will eat up a lot of ram.
The laptop has an internal mic which should do for now - only thing you have to check if the reverb of your game sounds is too bad.

The best way to increase your performance is to lower your resolution.

Also check out this site: NVIDIA & Laptop News | Latest NVIDIA drivers and related news | laptopvideo2go.com for some custom laptop nvidia drivers that gave my laptop quite some performance boost.

As of ingame settings you will have to try around yourself. I have not seen much difference in changing those at all (only AA and resolution made a difference to me).

If for some reason you are going with your deskop you should turn textures down on low - those will eat up most of the RAM.
