Static in my Audio

Post by Veterans-Gaming »

Hey guys,

I've just reformatted my pc but now when I go into game, I get this horrible static in my audio. I only get this with PR. It get's so bad that it actually mutes all my sound and I have to reboot to recover.

When I try different drivers, to include the latest vid drivers for my card, the static goes away, but then my screen freezes the minute I move my mouse and I have to hard reset to recover my pc. My current set up is just like it was prior to reformatting, so I don't understand why I'm having all these issues.

Any ideas? Thanks,

There is already a thread about that problem, sth like popping sizzling problem.

Problem will disappear if you lower your sound settings. Sadly this is the only proofed work around for this problem (IMO).

right click the speaker icon, click playback devices.
double click on the speakers (or wherever the sound is static)
click on "levels" tab
lower microphone to 0

Your problem is in choice of sound card. Creative are notorious for bad drivers etc.. You'll find if you use on-board sound, you'll have no problems. Creative + SLI or Crossfire are a no-go zone really... and adding win7 64 is like pouring salt on the wound.. However you may want to try updating the sound card driver if you have not already. If that fails, there is a third-party guy who has made some good creative sound card drivers.

Also make sure when installing the drivers from creative, you unpack them manually using winrar. They're not even capable of making an extractor that doesn't corrupt the files with 64bit OS.

Another way I found to fix it (this is when i had the X-fi titanium, before I binned it), was to go into control panel, go to sound options, go to properties on the speaker, then advanced, and select a different format(e.g 24bit 96000hz), then go back to the normal/preferable(e.g 24bit 192000hz). This pretty much resets it I believe, but will require a game restart every time you do so.
