Xfire/D3DOverrider vs. Punkbuster

Post by KiloJules »

Hey guys,

Although I used google and the search function I couldn't find the solution, hell not even a description of my problem. If you have a direct link, shame on me, but pls share it!

My current set-up with Win7 64 pro, official pr mumble (overlay enabled and loved!!!), fraps, D3DOverrider, BF2+PR 0.957 works like a charm.

Since I only have the free fraps I wanted to use Xfire to record gameplay footage instead. And here we go: punkbuster kicked me...for disallowed program/driver (125083).

After lots of tries I found out that as soon as I quit one of the two programs (either xfire or D3DOverrider) I can rejoin without being kicked again. So no reboot is needed or whatever.

Questions:
- How do you guys eliminate tearing and limit fps to 60 on an ATI card? My D3DOverrider solution seems kinda odd since I never met anyone using it too.
- Is there anyone that uses D3DO or the other tools along with xfire and has positive experiences?

Thanks in advance and see you on the battlefield!

I have no experience with D3DOverrider or ATI cards for that matter, but I can help you with one thing.

I use the
game.lockFps number
console command to limit my FPS if and when I need too.

First off, thanks for the reply!

BUT...there is always a but, isn't there...

I already tried that when I was on the search for a solution to the whole matter.
Problem being that it's just not the same visual quality as with D3DO.

does "renderer.vsync 1" work for you?

Else maybe a programm called nHancer can replace D3DOverride? (Have no experience with those programs at all).

Those are two new things to try out Coward - thanks in advance!
Gonna give it a try tonight and let you guys know what happened...

EDIT:

Okay, I tried "renderer.vsync 1" what seems to be a wrong method/command. :(
nHancer seems to be for nvidias only but on the search with that keyword I found Radeon Pro, a similar program (I guess) which has a lot of settings but nonetheless it didn't work either. It seems as soon as I have sth. to force vsync AND xfire running at the same time PB kicks me :(

Maybe I find some money for the full version of fraps or PB update their sheet.

Thanks for the answers anyway!
