Specs are more than enough to run everything on max with 8x AA.

With the crashing problem, I don't know of a way to fix it; you'll just have to wait until someone knowledgeable turns up ;)

My dad has a C2D 3.0GHz, 8800GT, and 4GB of RAM. I can run PR on that all high, with 8x AA. The lowest frame-rate I've seen is around 30fps, which was on Korengal overlooking the whole valley (which is basically the most detailed map of PR).

The 4290 is basically an 8800GT, maybe a bit slower. I don't know why it can't run PR!

No you don?t need to activate the mod.
I would say maybe you should uninstall BF2, delete registry entry of your BF2 and then try it again.
To do so go to start--> run (on XP), on vista/win7 just type in the search bar---> type "regedit"
---> Go to HKEY LOCAL MACHINE----> Go to "Software" ---> And find the EA Games or Electronic Arts folder.
Delete the entire EA Games or Electronic Arts folder.

Remember, uninstall PR first, then BF2 and then delete your registry.

As a matter of fact for me I have no registry entry anymore since patch 1.5, no idea why but most people do, so if you cant find a Electronic Arts folder or EA Games folder then don?t worry about it and then im sorry but I don?t know a fix either.

Except maybe.

Try this first before you uninstall!!!!!!!!!

Im assuming your running Vista or WIN 7..
Right click your PR.exe (the thing you launch your project reality with), properties, go to the compatibility tab and then check the box "Run as Administrator".
Then you should be able to access that drop down box right underneath it and press it and search for "Windows XP service pack 3".
Then press OK and then run it again.
It will prompt you with a yes or no screen and make sure to hit Yes when that comes up.

If that doesn?t work then im sorry to have wasted your time!

i installed the game, patched it to 1.50

so just make sure...you need patch bf2 first to 1.41...then 1.50.
if you patch without 1.41,pr doesnt work.

run as admin.
try to play vanilla first to get your accounts active.

try to install everything on default path.
you have also reinstalled...so maybe your pr files are corrupted?

I had this problem once before. I sat for hours trying to figure it out. Deleted all processes that were unnecessary. And I actually thought that we needed the BF2 disk to play PR, but I broke my CD years ago, so I got the .ISO instead, running it through Daemon Tools. Once i tried to quit the Daemon Tools process, the game actually started when i opened it. But this is not a common error.. I have PR on three machines, two of them have always run with DT. But if you have it, try quitting it. And quit all the unnecessary processes.
You should also install the game where it belongs. C:/Program Files/EA Games/Battlefield 2/". Not in "D:/LOL/GAMES/BF2/" or "C:/BF2". If everything fails, seeing you have the right equipment, I can almost guarantee that a full recovery of your machine will work. Before that, try to update all drivers to everything.
