To be honest I didn't really find the Manuel helpful either. I mean every thing it teaches you, you could learn from playing a round on a server like TG or PRTA. I would be happy to get you into the game and teach you anything except flying. Because I know Wicca is really busy with the rest of the WC. xfire is maniac1094

Great choice of music, CallousDisregard, but ...

Jackson889, download, learn the game. It's fantastic fun with a good team.
Deviation of bullets is tough and the hardest to get use to.
Do research. I'll help with some links:

Why does every forgot one of the largest attribute of PR? It's free to play with BF2.

1. like people said, you could be 10 for all i care, as long as your attitude to the game is right it will be fine :)
2. skill level in bf2 or any other fps wont get you hardly anywhere in pr, it completely different. its not the player who aims better that i would pick, its the one who is commited to teamwork. and just make sure that you dont use any vehicle or equipment that you havent practiced on, that gets a little embarrassing ;)

1. Older, but if you have the right attitude then no one will mind.

2. Better start with the normal rifleman kit and then expand your knowledge with time. Like someone suggested before, if you're not comfortable with a specific kit then tell your SL about it.

3. Depends of what kind of mistakes we're talking about here. If you warn the SL in advance that you're new, follow his orders right and be patient, then I don't see anyone flipping at you for doing anything wrong.
Of course if you take a valuable asset like an APC and ride around for your own benefit, then your team will bust your balls. Just be teamwork friendly - which is the main concept of this mod - and you will be fine.

And welcome to PR, if you need any guidance PM me.

I have started at the age of 13 but I was always following orders and acting based on what the squad leader does.

Due to this community having old players, you will find that most squad leaders and players in general are mature and understanding.

So, when you get in the game, make sure to join a squad and tell your squad leader via VOIP that you are new and I am sure that he will try to help you out with everything. If the squad leader didn't answer you; you should leave the squad and join another one.

It is highly recommended to read the manual because it contains all the important information that you need in order to be able to play the game properly.

If you act maturely, I am sure that no one will have a problem with you :)

I am only 1 year older than you BTW.

Good Luck,

Thank you so much for all your help! I will probably be playing later today, are there any servers you might suggest? A few people have mentioned Mumble and Xfire. I know Mumble is a VOIP client, but how is it any different from BF2's squad voice chat? Also, what exactly is Xfire? Is it anything like Steam?

Thanks again!

EDIT: I have read the manual, and I think I understand the elements added in PR to some degree, but obviously you can't learn everything from books. :D

Mumble is a VOIP client that gets data from the game you are playing (BF2 / PR in this case) about where everyone is on the map in relation to your own character and uses this data to make it sound as if the people talking around you were actually there. So if someone is close to your right for example, his voice over mumble will sound like he actually is close to your right. If he is a bit further away to your front-left, his voice will sound like it's coming from your front-left and it will sound more quiet because he is further away (after a preset distance you can't hear people anymore at all because they are too far away). Not only does this sound extremely cool ingame, it can also help you figure out who is talking around you. Most importantly however, if everyone on a server is on that server's mumble channel (some servers require people to be on mumble, but there's also servers that don't require this but still have alot of people on it) you can talk to any teammember, even players that are not in the same squad, that is near you without having to use the ingame text chat (cumbersome to use in a firefight). It also has special sub-channels for the squad leaders, within which they can talk to each other using non-positional voice (squad leader radio).

Xfire is alot like Steam, minus the online game distribution system. Besides the ingame chat functionality you can take screenshots with it, record video with it or broadcast it live, use an ingame web browser, an ingame music player and youve got your own profile page that lists what games youve played, how long, your screenshots and videos etc. Since most people don't have BF2 on Steam, alot use Xfire.

Good luck getting started and have fun! :)

I wouldn't go for Mumble just yet since you are new and Mumble has some quirks you need to know to get it working right. Just go with voip for now, but know that Mumble exists and it's strongly used in a lot of good servers. Later on when you are more confortable with PR you will want to give Mumble a try. Ah, and notice it's PR's own version of Mumble, you need to download it from realitymod.com/mumble or install it when the PR installer asks.

Whenever I encounter a wild new player asking for advice I always tell him to get on Mumble and I've had the chance to guide a lot of newcomers through the initial confusion of PR Mumble because of that, fortunately. It is worth it even with the risk of them getting frustrated and giving up on it - good way to separate the wheat from the chaff.

So get straight away on Mumble and servers that support it, the game will most likely be more immersive and rewarding with Mumble than without it!
