Spawning on fobs/caches when there are enemies right there

Post by maniac1031 »

I know that in the manual it says that fb and caches will not be spawn able when there are hostile infantry around it. But on numerous occasions I have been trying to take down a fb or cache and the enemy has spawned right next to me and shot me.

Was on TG the other day when we were seeding there were like 30 people on Gaza. I joined a squad grabbed a medic and my sl just ctd so I thought may as well just rambo it around the city. As i was walking i saw a rope going up the building and heard a lot of gunfire coming off the top. So i climb the ladder and find myself on an unmarked cache with 2 guys firing pkms of it. I kill the guys and then proceed to phos the cache. while looking for ammo to reload my nades I find that Hamas is spawning literally right behind me. This happened 3 times on the same cache. I would get there kill everyone and then get killed by a guy spawning on me.

Just wanted to know if this is intentional or if it is a problem with the bf2 engine. And if it could be fixed

It's 2 actually. I think the distance is 50 meters, but I'm not sure on that one.

I don't understand why the devs would make it 2 how is it fair or realistic to have them spawn right next to you?

It was an attempt to make it so a lonewolf couldn't do it by just running around, but there are issues.

RPs do get overrun by one person, but FOs require 2. A little weird, and we can reconsider.

Personally I think the harder you can make it for lonewolves, the better...

Every squad was either full or locked I never lone wolf but there was nothing else to do. Another example then on Beruit yesterday on PRTA we found saw a fb that was clear and sent one guy to burn it. While he was getting his Phos out a IDF spawned and killed him. We got the guy up but we never should have lost that ticket.

You don't have to be in a squad to move with teammates.

You should have sent in 2 people to burn that FOB.

I like the 2 man requirement for overrunning things. It encourages teamwork.

Yeah, keep it as it is. I'm surprised it takes 2 to be honest, maybe it should be three. (Get out snipzor/spotter rambo's, GET OUT).

How about significantly reducing the amount of time spawning is disabled after somebody is near a FOB but making it possible for only one man to disable the spawn?

What about taking a full squad instead of lonewolfing? I wonder how many times in Iraq a soldier was the last remnant of a squad being chased through the city and thought 'OMG A cache!'.

If we make it three instead of two it would also mean that Caches couldn't get taken down on Kokan by lonewolf 'Special Forces' squads in Humvees (I'm not particularly saying that they do though to be honest).

I would have taken an entire squad but if you had read there were no open squads.

No if they are able to get on a cache than the Insergants are doing something wrong in the first place why should you reward them for not being able to stop a single soldier?

The FB was in the middle of one of those squares with a building on either side and was completely open I figured sending one in would be less risky if a sniper hit him when he was burning the fob.

I wasn't really refering to the limited example you gave in your account, just more global stuff. But my retort to you saying that all the squads were locked would be.. You guessed it, make a squad! Or even better go on a good server without 9 locked squads.

Congratulations for sneaking into the FOB, however the fact that you hadn't got a team with you seems to suggest that the insurgents were doing fairly well.

You may want to read my post before insulting the best server in the entire game. I clearly said I was on TG waiting for it to seed with 30 people. And once more people joined my squad I led it.

So how's this thread relevant? Your experience was based on an empty server where people will lonewolf/mess around because to be honest it's seeding and doesn't matter anyway.

Please forgive me also for insulting the best server in the ENTIRE GAME. I was going by the actual problem that occured, rather than the reputation of the server the problem occured in.

Your missing the point. Your right that it doesn't matter that it was seeding. But this feature shouldn't be in the game. Its arcade and makes the game feel like vanilla or cod. You shouldn't put features into the game that punish lone wolves minus the kit system. Because quite frankly the fact that they are alone without a squad should be punishment enough for behavior like that. If one person is able to get onto a fob or cache by themselves without using teamwork than the other team isn't defending very well so why should you reward them?
