US crewman/pilot uniform question

Post by Orca19904 »

I was playing the single-player version of the Al-Kufrah Oilfields map, and I noticed that the soldiers crewing the Abrams tanks and Kiowa Warrior helicopters were wearing infantry uniforms with MICH helmets instead of wearing CVC helmets & pilot's flight suits/helmets. Is there any technical reason for this, such as inability to code a uniform swap or something? It just seems rather out of place to see AFV & helicopter crews wearing infantry gear.

because bots don't use the pilot/crewman kits because they are unable to request them

in a real MP game players would have to request the appropriate kit for the vehicle and therefore look the part.

They still don't get flight suits, iirc, only the helmet.

Thats part of a "geometry" for a kit, the geometry can only affect the loadout, helmet and backpack if applicable.

I could forgive the uniform bit, as I seem to recall hearing that the ACU uniform is being worn more by armored vehicle and helicopter crews than the purpose-made coveralls & flight suits, but the helmet discrepancy is still a bit of a glaring flaw. I remember that BF2 has the AI automatically switch to CVC/pilot garb when manning aircraft & tanks, is it not feasable to have this in PR?

Switching kit geometries upon entering a vehicle is a part of the game that I don't think we've fiddled around with much at all.
