Cannot get PR to work from steam install

Post by dashdanw »

I just did a fresh re-installation of BF2 and then attempted to install PR from the torrent, I used the latest version and downloaded it today, I got no error messages or anything.

When i go to launch it now the splash screen comes up and disappears and nothing happens.

I have tried all different combinations of compatibility mode but to no avail, and after searching the forums via google I could not find anyone with this problem...can anyone at least give me some guidance? I understand that it is kind of a blank issue with not much to read off of but I would really like to start playing the mod.

You'll probably get more assistance in the tech support forum.

is it a legit copy of BF2 ?

did you fully patch BF2 ?

have you tried running in windowed mode

Steam does that all.,
Turn off the Steam Overlay. That should fix it.

Are you joking? Steam autopatches, oh and I'm pretty sure you cannot buy BF2 off of steam without having a legitimate copy.

Have you installed the PR files in the correct order?

I am not sure how the torrent works... but if it gets you 3 files, you must install them in the correct order (Part 1 then part 2 ...)

I'm not sure this is your issue but make sure the Steam overlay is turned off or you get a Punkbuster kick.
Also make sure you add PR to the "non-steam games" list in your Games tab.
Good luck.

The title of the thread is about steam install and AFAIK if you DL'd the game from steam you have to run it through steam.
