The engine BF3 uses will be even more of a pain than this one (BF2). It will have a lot of features, yeah, but to code on/with it will be very hard due to the complexity of the thing.

BF3 is not going to be moddable, And PR wont die because of it because BF3 attracts a different fan base.Lord Jesus wrote:Maybe, but if BF3 is moddable, I'm sure someone will steal all the PR ideas of this mod and make a clone of it for BF3. PR on BF3 engine would be incredible.

+1. PR didnt die when they released BC2, it wont die when they release a copy of BC with a different name too.gazzthompson wrote:BF3 is not going to be moddable, And PR wont die because of it because BF3 attracts a different fan base.

This is modern warfare.Scopes are going to be dominant. It not the 40's where everyone had iron sights. When I see pictures or combat videos of marines and army ALMOST ALL of them Have some kind of optical sight.Lord Jesus wrote:I was saying ironsights vs ironsights engagements would be more fun than 4x vs ironsights, which is the current norm.

Kinda off topic here but its just a "strait answer question." In the military (any country) how does logistics or your Platoon leader decide whether you get a EOtech, Aimpoint M2, MARS, or Mepro reflex sight. I have seen such a variety of red dots in Afghanistan pictures, but I really don't know how they aquire them.

As for my country, often what is the case is that the soldiers themself, buy optics if they don't like what they get. I would assume it's different in other countries though.Acecombatzer0 wrote:Kinda off topic here but its just a "strait answer question." Don't hate me for this but I still think that iron sights should have small zoom magnification for the purpose of balance. Even RO has this feature and they even claim it's realistic.

The strength of the round balances the gameplay, use it.

What? So far as I know, iron sights don't give you any kind of damage boost.Psykogundam wrote:The strength of the round balances the gameplay, use it.

In my country soldiers chose there weapon attachments. We use G36KV so you can attach on it nearly everything.Acecombatzer0 wrote:Kinda off topic here but its just a "strait answer question." I have heard no such thing as a damage boost if you're rocking irons.
What I have seen is a video where you can switch from looking through your scope to using the "irons" on top of it.
So heres my question, why dont they use that?

Yes, I have a feeling this will be PR's future for some conventional armies and possibly sometimes in miltiant/insurgents with the backup sights, and maybe phase out irons where they aren't realistic altogether. See what a lot of people don't realize is iron sights aren't realistic in many NATO conventional forces, but are more prevalent in game for balance reasons.ubercoolninja wrote:I have heard no such thing as a damage boost if you're rocking irons.

For example from what I gathered frontline infantry units in the British Army in most cases have scopes whereas in game there's a lot of iron sight options on the British side. A lot of people maybe like irons but the realism of it is not there. I'd like to see a more realistic solution with Mosquill's backup sights system, so true iron sights are a minority or eliminated altogether if not appropiate to a faction.
As far as balance it wouldn't do much people can get a scope anytime they want anyway.
Another example is the US forces, as far as I know I could be wrong since im not a serviceman but it would seem that the red dot sights aren't even all that 100% realistic but the fact is it some kind of optic makes sense but maybe that could be cut down as well and make ACOG/backup sight prevalent.
With the backup sights maybe kit layout be like this:
Britain:
Officer: L85 SUSAT with backup sight
-Take off the Iron off the spawn screen but still requestable from crate(or maybe not eventually but have it available for the transition depending) for if its absolutely wanted
Rifleman- SUSAT with backup -(again iron off crate)
Medic- Scope with backup(if devs feel that's appropiate for the medic however I feel medics should have an optic if it fits realism)
Specialist- Double shotgun or rifle with scope take off backup sight have scope and only 1 type of shell for alternate (buckshot).
AR- same as before
Then that would free up room on the kit screen by not having the iron listed but still available at least initially. So maybe grenadier could be spawnable or such.
Another good example would be Germany which, well is actually a lot more simple because the German rifle now has a sight with a backup and selecting scope or nonzoom optic just makes you look through a different part of the weapon.
Hope this gives you a idea of my concept and opinion.

Doctor sight sucks, they are too small. (like Aimpoint micro, but worse)Hitman.2.5 wrote:I cant back this up but haven't a fair few of the troops that use an ACOG switched to the ACOG which has a red dot on top for if the need arises. Isn't there also an EOtech which has X4 magnifier which folds over behind the holograph to make it a X4 holographic sight (not sure if used)
