Anyway, about squad members... I still remember how I started playing PR. It was 0.9 version and when I compare what is happening right know, its like on public playing with random people, there is less and less teamwork. People just care about toys like CROW Humvee and shit like that. And than spam the chat with it. Anyway, in my point of view the pubbers are playing worse and worse with each version. I find my self enjoining PR only on events, organized scrims and tournaments :( But its not like that always. There is still some good and awesome servers were you enjoy the gameplay ;)

I think it is about the same as it has been since about .5
New people find the game, a small percentage goof off for a few days, a slightly larger percentage fall in love immediately and the rest fall out between those two extremes.
There was never a time when every single person who played respected everyone else, all the time, only played like militaristic illuminati and treated every vehicle as if they were making payments with no insurance.
The next release will bring thousands of new players, some of whom are on the cusp of loving the game and it's up to us to tip that balance.
Instead of singing about the glory days....

I find the whole designation "pubbie" to be misused around here. We all regularly play in public servers after all.

I think its in reference to players who join any server that has a free slot, rather than to become a regular on one or 2 servers they like, so they get to play on a regular basis with the same people, who use the same "trick".

I've never had a problem squad leading. You need to be in charge, you need to SOUND in charge and you need to let them know you ARE in charge.

At the beginning of a round the moment my squad fills up I start going over my attack plan and what I expect from them, if someone doesn't respond with their voice I remove them and if I get any sense that someone is a child I remove them.

If you do the role properly and treat it seriously so will those in your squad. Earn their respect by showing them you can do the job well and you won't have issues.

Sometimes it feels like being the only sober guy in a group of drunks. Sometimes it's the other way around.

And meh at the pubbie thing, many of the most unresponsive, annoying and generally bad players I've seen were in clans...
This signature is here due to lack of imagination.

My approach exactly. I will often take about 15 or 20 seconds during a quiet time to check the map to have at least 2 options of activity if a cache/flag is taken out.

The worst thing a SL can do is not have a plan.

That is just wrong, if they listen and they are a kid, you should not kick them. I am 16, and have a "high" voice for a 16-year old. But that doesn't makes me a noob at all. I even believe that leading children is easier than leading adults that think that they know everything and can do everything!

But, when it are 8-year old kids, well that is something different, but I think no 8-year kids play this game at all.

But being an SL as a "kid" or like me with a high-pitched voice is some kind of irritating. People won't listen, just do what they want to and fuck their teammates. The best thing against it, is shooting them in the face with a pistol 9MM Gangsta Style...

I think I see where you are coming from. But, honestly, I have only "punished" (a 9mm shot, which simply hurts a bit, nothing that a patch won't solve) a squad mate over something really annoying, and the whole squad agrees: agrees to take Medic kit on preparation before round start and gets sniper kit (on purpose). Why not a "simple kick"? Because I am just making his job much easier - he doesn't even have to press the "Leave Squad" button!

Another "punishable" situation is when I tell someone the same order 5 times (to the point that the entire squad is just staring at the dude who isn't following my orders). I don't shoot him though, just a kick.
Guys, when a new player comes, just answer his question and go on your merry way, instead of going berserk! It's THAT simple! :D

At all the guys that started hating me, I won't shoot everyone, I kick first, But if they continue following me and start TK'ing squadmates, then they will feel my Pistol Barrel between their eyes (It is a joke)...

I tell people how this is gonna work from the get go. Anyone who seems tard or aint got a microphone gets the boot before the game starts, and if they fuck up or dont listen, boot again.. after 10-15mins you'll have a squad of 3-6 people who will get shit done with alot less babysitting.
