XP to Win 7

Post by Plaid-Apples »

I ran XP professional during .85 and had all the video settings maxed and experienced smooth game play. Shortly before the release of, what i believe, was .909 I stopped playing due to mainly time constraints.

During that period I reformatted my PC to Win 7 32bit. Shortly after that I wanted to get back into PR. I installed and configured my settings similar to what they were when i had previously been playing. I loaded into Silent Eagle for the first time and came into a significantly lower fps. It was unplayable in denser areas like central village and still very jerky in the open areas.

Ive since lowered my settings to more the med-low range and generally can play with decent fps on most maps. I cannot play Gaza, Beirut, Fallujah and several others. I played on muttrah with maxed settings very smoothly on XP in .85 but now I cannot even play it on med-low settings.

My Specs:

Intel 915 board
Pentium 4 3.2ghz
4 gigs of memory
Nvidia 8600GT 512mb

I dont know if this is due to win 7 being more taxing on my system or if the recent patches simply require more power. Or if theres tweeking i need to do somewhere to help even things out. Any ideas people have would be great.

Thanks

PR currently has some performance issues. Alot of these should be fixed in the next release.
So it is not all Win 7 or your PC making your game seem slow.

Make sure you have some decent gfx drivers from nvidia and not just the default windows update ones.
