Hi,
I was able to take out a G3 w/ scope from the German marksman and add the USRIF M14 acog w/ zoomable scope. Editing was easy. But, my question is when I get into the game and it asks me to select a kit, the marksman kit has a white rectangle where the weapon is suppose to be. When I get into the game, I am using the marksman kit w/ the m14. I was able to edit the deployed weapon file as well for the zoom part. Everything worked but not at the beginning. Is there a file I missed editing in order for the weapon to show up instead of the white rectangle?

Could you provide a picture of what you mean? Where does the white rectangle appear?

The white rectangle appears in the initial startup page of the game. Before you enter the game, one must select a kit. The marksman kit is what I usually select. In this case a G3 sniper rifle what I changed to an M14 acog sniper rifle. The G3 shows up in the selectable marksman kit before entering the game. I edited the german marksman kit in the kit server zip file and changed the G3 to an M14 acog. When I restarted the game and got to the point to select the marksman kit, the m14 Acog rifle appears to be a white rectange. I wonder if it is a tga file problem? Anyway, after selecting the marksman kit I entered the game. I do have the m14 acog rifle. Everything has worked. When I hit the tab key in game, I get the hud menu for all kits and their weapons. But it's when I'm out of game trying to get in and selecting the marksman kit for the first time is when the white rectangle shows up.

Update: I'm wondering if the usrif_m14acog.tweak file needs to be edited. In the tweak file the only line in there for the tga file is this: ObjectTemplate.weaponHud.selectIcon Ingame\Weapons\Icons\Hud\Selection\USRIF_M14acog.tga
Below is a line that I thought would help with the white rectangle issue but it did not help.
ObjectTemplate.weaponHud.weaponIcon Ingame\Weapons\Icons\Hud\USRIF_M14acog.tga

That "ObjectTemplate.weaponHud.weaponIcon" should hold the location of the weapon icon. Try to give it another value (of another weapon) and see what happens.

Yes, changing out the line ObjectTemplate.weaponHud.weaponIcon Ingame\Weapons\Icons\Hud\USRIF_M14acog.tga to ObjectTemplate.weaponHud.weaponIcon Ingame\Weapons\Icons\Hud\mecrif_g3sg1.tga did work. This just tells me that the usrif_m14acog.tga does not exists. Is there a way to add this tga file so that it does work?

PS. There are several weapons that do not have their respective "ObjectTemplate.weaponHud.weaponIcon" lines in their tweak files. Will there be an update for those weapons in the weapons_server.zip file? If not, is there a way to do this myself.

I'm curious .... while in game I can select either free standing w/ the weapon or deployed. In the menu I have those two choices. I'm guessing those two choices or rather "icons" come from this: ObjectTemplate.weaponHud.selectIcon Ingame\Weapons\Icons\Hud\Selection\USRIF_M14.tga <---- under the directory selection. When I opened that directory up ... I found only this file: CHRIF_Type95.tga. So, where does the USRIF_M14.tga file actually reside?
Also, I was able to use modified icon files from this zip folder here: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=L5LG45CD and the instructions are here: http://www.battlefieldsingleplayer.com/ ... 16009.html This will do in a pinch.

As you can see the usrif_m14acog.tga is used in the line ObjectTemplate.weaponHud.weaponIcon Ingame\Weapons\Icons\Hud\Selection Yes, I know it will be the icon from the second line and it shows up the same in the weapon menu when you select your kit. But heck it's a quicker alternative and it works!!
