joystick controls?

Post by paul161616 »

hey everyone i just bought myself a shiny new $30 joystick for flying, ive been practicing and wanted to see how different it is with the joystick instead of keyboard and mouse. its a logitech attack 3, with 11 buttons. http://www.repteil.de/data/tinymce/uplo ... _light.jpg
not sure if that will work, but i was hoping to get some tips on how to set this up with project reality control wise for helicopters and jets and maybe some suggestions on different configurations, any help would be much appreciated and thanks in advance!

A bit to few buttons for my liking on that one, and depending on witch arm you use to steer, the two buttons one either the left or right at the bottom will be hard to use.
Personally I use this

and use every single button on it.
Can't really give you an exact layout of how I would have done it, and tell you to do the same. Just place them where you feel that it is natural to have them.
Small tip though is to have a button for VOIP/mumble on it, and put it close to witch ever button you assign for flares, so that if you are talking and get an AA lock, it's easy to start dropping them
I know not with what weapons World War III will be fought, but World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones.

one thing you might want to play with is also setting a joystick control up for driving land vehicles, I use the Y-axis for acceleration and rudder for turning, it allows very slow and smooth movement of the vehicle, which is especially useful on insurgency when you want to keep moving to avoid being sniped/RPGed but want to put down accurate fire on an enemy position.
